Sway bar and subframe question...
Couldn't the subframe tear not only because of an improperly mounted sway bar, but also because the car is too low? I was staring at my ST sway bar and trying to picture how it functions during use. If the car is too low the LCA's would have less traveling space (the LCA's would not be parallel to the ground) hence the endlinks mounted the the struts would pull up on the sway bar when the car is on the ground putting more tension on the mounting points on the subframe.. Is this another reason leading to subframe tear? or am I just talking nonsense? Please post back, thanks..
If the LCAs are inclined such that the sway bar mount is raised relative to its subframe mount, then the bar will be in torsion under static load (car at static height). This is when one wheel is in bump. For the scenario you mentioned: The sway bar sees no rotational reaction at the subframe mount. Since both the left and right hubs are raised the entire bar will be rotated, and the subframe won't be able to tell the difference. This assumes that the bar travels upward in bump, though it actually follows an arc, so there will be a small stress at the mount, which will increase as the displacement of the wheel increases. The subframe mount only experiences a stress when a lateral or longitudinal load is placed on it. I know my Progress bar end-links have 3 poly bushings which will compensate lateral and longitudinal movement of the bar to some degree. In any case, drop your car to the ground before you torque the endlink mounts, however. This will prevent the bar from binding under bump, because of the case I presented in the original sentence.
Dammit, I feel like I wrote a lot and didn't say anything.

there was a guy on here that had the beeks kit and still ripped out the subframe... and I know a guy that had the 19mm skunk2 sway bar with stock type d brackets and that ripped out the subframe too.. any suguestions on mounting and ride height?
The ITR rear subframe is reinforced.
There is no need to worry about tearing an ITR rear subframe.
If you do not have an ITR rear subframe, you are asking your question in the wrong forum.

intresting because I tried to put my question on another section and they kicked me out and said "they already asked it in the ITR forum" I will try to ask again

how is the ITR subframe reinforced compared to the non-ITR's? I have a friend that can weld, maybe it could strengthen my subframe.. The other thing to is that I have tried posting in the normal Integra forums, but the information there isn't as informative as the people in the ITR forums.. Let me know, peace

The ITR rear subframe is highly reinforced due to thicker metal compared to other model Integras. This is what sets apart an ITR from lower models.
Post this in the Integra Forum.
