ok i was driving in my 94 ex sedan, and all of a sudden i get to like 40-45 mph and i hear this sound, it sounds like 2 knives scraping against each other, like a high pitched sound, and when i hit the brakes hard it goes away, anyone have any idea what it is?

 

I think it's probably your brake pads. Check the brake pads to see if it is worn down. I had the same problem, because the noise would come from my wheel area. The noise would go on and off randomly. I thought the noise came from else where but it was my brake pads.
