Default are prices cheaper in japan for parts??

Im just wondering if prices for product X are generally cheaper in Japan than they are here in the USA. Specifically Im looking at Toda parts (flywheel, cam gears) and other misc stuff.

Thanks

do products have to go through customs if they are shipped with FedEX ? You could fit cams into one of FedEx's triangle boxes for posters/blueprints. You could fit cam gears in a FedEx box easily.

Im not going to start a business or anything, I just want to know if it is economical to have my buddy send me over something.

Some parts are cheaper but when you add the cost of shipping and customs fees, it usually turns out to be the same if not more expensive than prices in the U.S. I bought a strut bar a long time ago from Japan because it was about $45 less than the prices here in the states, but the FEDEX bill came out to like $68, so I actually paid more and had to wait longer.

Almost forgot; about putting the parts in other boxes, you must claim what products you have in the boxes for insurance purposes and if they find out you've lied about the contents, they'll hold the boxes until you pay the difference in customs.

Yes, I use Fed-Ex daily and all my packages still must pass through customs.

All packages passing through any borders usually have to pass customs, especially in light of this tragedy....
