Anyone watch their Expo 3 CDs yet?
Just wanted to hear other people's opinions on it. I think it was great! I was ecstatic to see my car on the CD! I don't even have a Type R...or that great of a car for that matter. But it was sweet! The only thing I was was different was the the movie files weren't in flash format. Wish they were in .mpg format. But oh well! STill rocked!

Which car was that?
Which car was that?
On the Image CD...in the Paddock folder of pictures...it is the green teg parked next to the green accord. I'll post a pic here in a min....my car doesn't look like that anymore. atleast not for the most part. i started returning it back to stock.
Here's a pic... just add .orig.jpg to see the full size picture to it.

If you can't view the movies with the player on the cdrom, you can view them with internet explorer.

Gina, I just got mine a few days ago, and am also VERY pleased, awesome job on the whole thing. I have to make one criticism though, as you'll see below:
I didn't notice it until I started zoning out with my eyes in that direction, and if it makes you feel better, none of my family noticed at all...
Again though, great job, will there be another one for Expo '04?

Yeah, I love my "MULIMEDIA CD SET." LOL
I got mine befor Thanksgiving, THANKS GINA!
The video player is too choppy for the 2 computers I tried it on..... I think I'm gonna copy the whole cd image to my hard drive to cure the problem.....

Yeah, the video wouldn't play on my PC's at home, but works fine at work (2.4gHz, 1g RAM, 128video). Thankfully no ones here the day after Thanksgiving!

I got mine today, Boo's in 2 pics and I'm in 1. That's more than I expected. Too bad it's hard to see the "NoTEC" on my hood. Hunkashit's got VTEC, now
got mine on wed... I'm very happy with the photo cd - it's a great collection, brought back alot of fond memories... The video cd didn't work very well however. The flash animation and screensaver crashed my PIII XP laptop, and the videos didn't play very well... Anyway, regardless of that, good job Gina - thanks for putting it together.

No way to enlarge them. Size of video had to be sacraficed in order to fit that many on a 700mb disk. In order to put larger videos on I would have only been able to fit 2 or 3 instead of over 10 like there is now.

yep.. pretty much exactly what I was going to say.. I think this is the downside of using the shockwave format and player.. overall, very good.. wish the vids would've worked a bit better though.. thanks gina!!

The video's didn't want to play very well on my computer. After watching a couple videos they started to get real choppy, the sound completely disappeared, and the video would freeze and wouldn't play. From most of the replies it seems like most other people are having similar problems. Is there anything I/we can do to improve it?
I know it isn't my computer because it is pretty good. I have to say that so far I am pretty disappointed. Add to that the fact that the video is small. I understand the space issue but watching the video is like watching one of those pocket TV's. I would have liked to watch it full screen.
So far at this point I think the teaser is a hundred times better. I don't want to **** anyone off but I am just expressing how I feel. I hope that I can find a way to see the whole video cd without any trouble and I hope my mind changes.

Gina did a fantastic job on this entire project. She took multi-thousands of images and video of ALL quality levels and made it work. She skipped out on a social life and sleep to devote time to making something anyone at the Expo3 could appreciate. I've read a few of your complaints and think constructive criticism is always a good thing...
And I also think some of you have rediculous expectations. Say what you like but that's what it is. Maybe if GMD was a subsidiary of Microsoft, ESPN, or the Discovery Channel the complaints would be something to care about.

yeap... I really liked the images.. as for the video.. I was expecting more, but really great effort and worth the money
to Gina.
Thanks again for the video.

I was a bummed with the video cd too. From what I can gather... the shockwave/flash format must make awful use of computer resources. While any website I get on that has flash stuff is fine, when trying to view any of the videos on the cd, my processor (1.2ghz) spikes to 100% and bringing up task-manager reveals videocd.exe using as much as 130megs of memory! That's what surprised me the most. And I don't know about videos made in flash, I have no experience there- But when I play DVD-quality DivX encoded videos/movies that I've downloaded or created myself, at full-screen no less, they utilize virtually none of my processor and hardly any memory. Should also be able to get more than an hour of full-screen video using DivX (or even MPEG for that matter) in less than 700 megs. Shockwave/flash must have some odd limitations, but I've never created anything with it, so I don't know why it's killing a lot of our computers; I mostly use Adobe Premiere for video editing, and DivX/MPEG/WMP tools for encoding. *shrug*
oh and.... pads on fire... woah, that was crazy- didn't remember hearing about that, haha

It shouldnt be "killing" any computers. It was tested on over 10 computers with different specs and OS. Only problem that was found that the video cd ran a bit slow on slower machines. However, all footage played with no choppiness or lack of sound. I am not sure what the deal is with the problems that a handful of people are having.
If there are interface problems with the video cd you can navigate the cd to the "footage" folder and view the .swf files there of the videos.
This was produced to be a COMPILATION cd set, not one specific thing. That is why I did not produce a DVD, someone else is.
I put a lot of time and heart into this. It something that was never done before at any expo and I volunteered to pioneer it. A lot has been learned from this experience and there are plenty of things that I would do different and quicker the next time around.

critisizim isnt meant to offend, it is meant to help. How would you improve if people didnt tell you where you were lacking.
You can get patted on the back for anything, but being able to use the critisizm to improve your work is the key.
