Default ICV craziness with OBDII ecu.

Hi,

Whenever I have my Stock 2001 OBDII ECU in the car, my R drives great, however it seems like once in a while, it goes into "crazy idle" and the CEL comes on... I'm not too sure what really triggers it as sometimes I go for long stretches (days, a week) without incident and just when I think I've beat it, it comes back to haunt me once again.

When it comes back, it seems like even after CEL reset, it will come back shortly (in a day or less). I'm not sure if it is the weather or what... I've checked the O2 sensor in the cat, but I didn't think it was that anyway, but I was "down" there and decided to take a look regardless.

With the code reader I get two P0505's, after the first one, nothing happens, but the second one triggers the CEL and the crazy idle...

when I say crazy, it's not _that_ bad per se, its driveable but annoying... especially at low speeds (i.e. parking lot). It hangs at about 1500-1600 rpm and flucuates a bit, like it's balancing but sounds like "lumpy idle" or like I'm continually tapping the gas slightly (but I'm not)... and when I'm driving in parking lots I have to control the throttle alot more carefully as it seems to come on a little rougher/harder...

It seems to egg on most ricers that pull up beside me at the lights, not that I mind reminding them that it is an R... but still... .

I have an AEM CAI and a larger TB, but I'd figure that the ICV and ECU wouldn't have a hard time with that and would adjust accordingly... I don't think there is anything wrong with the ICV... but, who knows...

Using my other "tuned" ECU, this problem never comes up... but I do want to drive with the stock ECU sometimes, sigh... it's a pain to reset the CEL unless I carry my code reader all the time, but that's ghetto and I don't want to pull the clock fuse all together either...

What do ya think guys?

Boy this board moves fast...

I also have a lightened flywheel... If that helps...

And ICV = Idle Control Valve... if anyone has heard or experienced this... please let me know I'm not the only one...

Off hand, I'd say your ECU needs some re-tuning to deal with the larger TB, or at least some notable adjustment of the idle specs.

Your Throttlebody is the problem. Adjust it or get rid of it.

You have a code reader? Can you look at all of the sensors with the engine running or with key on, not running ? Your TPS should be at 0.49 volts throttle closed, and about 4.5 volts at WOT.
