Yes, you can. You have to call corporate Acura and have them contact Honda of Japan. It takes a while, but it was done for me. They even contacted the dealership I bought the car from to notify them of the number.
It took me 3 or 4 calls to Corporate Acura to find a customer service rep who knew what I was talking about. The first 3 just told me it was the last four digits of the VIN.
Keep calling until you get someone willing to help you.

I tried for about 6 months with numerous phone calls to Acura, Acura Corporate, Honda of Japan, etc, to find out what car number the parts from B18CXr's came from. Never got a clear answer. I did hear from one person that it's the numbers from the VIN, but a few quick e-mails to R owners dispelled that theory (the first was to Splat who used to own 2000-0009). Anyway- good luck finding out.

Yep. We did some comparisons among the NC we-todds, and while there are some coincidences, the badge number does not line up with either the VIN or the engine code.

Yeah i am sorry man but if you dont know how to identify your type r then there is really an issue at hand. Unless you just got really ripped off, your armrest was stolen or you somehow managed to sneak in a jdm type r.

I asked this question before and receieved a reply saying that the actual #'s were never actually released. Is this true or where did you get your #'s from.
