Default help with wiring on an alpine deck, in eg civic

Ok, so I got a new alpine cdm 9803,
i know what todo with all the wires, except one.

it says its the battery wire,
and should hook up to one ofthe terminals on my battery.
its yellow and has a fuse hooked onto it.

NOW, there is a separate wire for the 12v power,
do I still need to hook up this battery wire?

I ask because I'd really rather not have to find a way thru the firewall to get
to the battery.
I've got extra long wires lying around i can use,
but I really dont want to have to go all the way out there.

any input would be great!
thanks!

just connect the the battery wire to the 12 volt battery wire. you don't have to run a wire to the battery.

yeah just take a multimeter or test light and find the power wire. the one that puts out power when your key is off. and red goes to the acc wire. the one that turns on when u turn ur key. black goes to ground.

On the CDA9807 and below, it is fine on hooking them up to the constant wire in the harness, but I highly reccommend going straight to the battery on any of the higher models. With the CDA9811 and up, they seem to draw more power and tend to fade out during scrolling until they have their own dedicated wire ran to the battery. Just my $.02!!

This is only going to be the case if you are using the internal amplifier --- at least it should be
