4th gen Si: Handling characteristic
I've just bought a '93 Prelude Si (with rod knock). I'm going to take it apart as soon as I have time, but I was wondering how well they handle. I had an '88 Crx Si (with some suspension) and that thing sticked to the road well. It also feels nice since it's so light. I did a search and the '93 Si is about 2865 lb, which is a lot of weight for a Honda. It has Eibach Sport springs and I believe that's it as far as suspension.
I was just wondering what you guys (who owns a Prelude or has driven one) think about the Prelude's handling vs a lighter model Honda.

It has 215-45-17 Kumho Supra 712 on 17" Rotas. When I get the money, I'm going to buy a set of '96 itr wheels and throw on my Azenis. It's good to hear that they handle well.
Here's my thoughts on the 4th gen prelude handling:
Since the prelude is rather front heavy, it tends to have bad understeer, but it can be easily remedied by a larger rear sway bar, stiffer springs, & adj. shocks......After doing this to my car, I can make my rear end swing out like you wouldn't believe!
The stock 205 width tires are also a little slim for a car of this weight. The 4th gen prelude will handle better if you can get wider tires & rims with the right offset to avoid rubbing issues. Like you said, the 712's are fine for the street, but they suck for any other handling...

ive had 2 and i think that pound for pound it is the best handling honda or acura by far i put tokiko struts , skunk2 coils upper and lower sway support for the front and rear and i can take a 80 degreed flat to flat turn r orl at 110-115 all day long and never even consiser the fact that my car will slide ........ there bad dude , way bad , i took 340 degree off ramp at 65+ bone stockw no power steering

I took a 90 degree turn off a side street by my house at 70mph. Fish-tailed into a 180, came to a stop 1 inch from the curb. Damn it would of been a sweet parallel parking job.
Scared the shet out of me..

They understeer like a ***** from the factory; w/ some good tires, shocks, springs, and a bigger rear sway, it handles w/ the best of them.
The big difference w/ the CRX and the lude is that the lude weighs a great deal more. If you set the car up right, it will handle as good as you need it, cause I REALLY doubt you would ever push the lude to the point that it couldn't handle what you give it.

4th gen ludes are 4 lug's, ITR wheels are 5 lugs

Myself and others were refering to '96 Itr wheels. They look hot, there is a picture of a red one with them on.
Is there any rear swaybar from the factory that's a good upgrade. For the integra people, the rear itr bar is a very nice upgrade.
Not to start a debate or anything, which Prelude would handle better (the 4th or 5th gen)?

nope; the only better sway bars are aftermarket, since there were no differences between the different trims.
And pretty much the 4th gen. is better performance-wise, but you will get diff. opinions in here.
