Default 205/45/16 vs. 205/50/16 Feedback requested

Got my 16" Work Jwings. I was leaning toward the 50 series... but a few buddies say I should go with 45 series. Any reasoning/suggestions appreciated...

I have 205/45/16 it's thinner and looks better in my opinion. However, my car is dropped and i feel most bumps on the roal. 205/50/16 is thicker so it's not as bumpy.

45 series is perfect for 16's 40 if you like a little lower profile and slammed car, 50 if j00 is ghey and like b0ys.

So this looks gay to you? Eat ****, you little *****.

Get the 50's if you want a real tire. Get 45's if you don't car about the ride quality. Get 40's if you want a rubber band.

Did you ever consider that 45 series would gear your car lower, netting better acceleration??..oh wait, Im in the appearance forum.

The only negative effects would be that the 45 would wear faster.

Also why are you insulting him because of his more intelligent choice of tire? Secondly you base your tire choice on if it looks taller or not???

So based on your logic, a 35 series tire is gonna make you car SUPER quick. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to go with the tallest (yet still sporty) sidewall on a street car. Any acceleration difference between 205/45s and 205/50s is gonna be negligible.

Hell, I've take my 205/50/16 ES100s to many a autocross and a track day and they are grippy tires with very little sidewall roll, and they are still the greatest street tire I've ever used for daily driving.

I don't see any possible way that a 45 series tire would wear faster than a 50 series tire either.

And I wasn't insulting anyone because of their more "intelligent choice" of tire. He was the one that said 50 series tires are gay. Guess my TE37s are gay cause I have 50s, right?

Again, I recommend 205/50s for a well rounded tire size.

Well, yes 35 series would gear your car *lower* yielding better acceleration... every little bit helps. Using your logic, why not buy some Rota Grids, instead of those lightweight forged TE's and save some dough? Tall is also bad because of sidewall flex. But you are right about ride being smoother.

agreed.

a 45 series tire is shorter, so it sees more revs/mi.. which wears faster.

And I wasn't insulting anyone because of their more "intelligent choice" of tire. He was the one that said 50 series tires are gay. Guess my TE37s are gay cause I have 50s, right?

no, Te37's are some of the best wheels created IMO, 50 series is a matter of choice....but 45 is better performance wise.

Again, I recommend 205/50s for a well rounded tire size.
point taken, 45's have advantages too</TD></TR></TABLE>

Oh what the hell does it have to do with your TE37's?? Ok, you spend a pretty penny on wheels, we get it.

I for one was laughing my *** off at n0se's comment!

Anyway...I will soon be sportin 16's and i will be running a 45 series tire.
