yesterday on my way to jacksonville mineding my own buisness i was going up a bridge(the dames point for those who know) a fairly sized bridge. i look in my rear view mirror and there's a blue camaro on my ***!! literaly, so i downshift into fourth to switch lanes so he would pass me.. well he didnt pass me!! so i guessed he wanted to race. so next thing i know im doing 110 up the bridge and he was behind me . i had to slow down so i would'nt miss my exit. then i look over at him and i see that it's an SS!! i thought it was a regular camaro so thats why i raced him. anyways we get off at the same exit and i pass him around a turn at about 70mph. and the light up ahead turned green a little after i started braking. so i was doing around forty, and i knew he would try to race me again. just me and him side by side dropped it into fourth and halled ***. i already took it into vtec through all the gears except fifth so i was going about 100. he was pretty close behind me, about two car lenghts. as soon as i saw the back off his car drop down i knew he was trying to race me. 120mph later he gave up. prolly cuz i was pretty far ahead. i did kinda get the jump on him though. i wont lie those cars have a lot of power 325hp!! 130hp more than mine.. and im sure its quik. im not afraid to admit if something else is faster than my type-r. but i sure didnt make it fun for him!! im still wondering if he was really trying.. lots of fun, but i wont do it again cuz its very dangerous.. and i would feel like a dumbass if i totaled my car just to see if my car is faster.. i did have a friend with me. so i was suprised.. i guess some drivers are better than others.. my mods are mugen header,intake and exhaust.. just thought id share that with you wonderfull people!!............mugen

ps i dont condone street racing!! right now i guess i dont have much room to talk!!

 

I can promise you he wasn't trying.If you went all the way through vtec into redline in all gears exept 5th you were doing over 120mph.You may have a chance against one of those cars from a dead stop until 50mph.From 50 and up you would have absolutely no chance.Even if you had quite a few bolts on an Ls1 powered TA or SS will be out of your league.

 

He couldnt of been racing you,lt1 are strait mean ,they would fetch you if you had a 5 car headstart,and mugen bolt ons wont add that kind of power to beat a ss on top end either,dont race another ss you will get embarrased;and humiliated

 

I wouldn't say you would be embarrased.After all it is all in fun.Those guys have their place in the food chain aswell.A lot of those f body guys will not hesitate to race a smaller import car.Pull up next to one in a modded 94-98 Supra then see how they act.It's just havning fun.Nothing embarrasing about it.

i agree,unless you goin thinking your gonna win,than would suck,my friend has a ss and we've raced every way rollin @40mph,20mpn,60mph,he leaves me like im standing still,its pretty amazing power

I agree with everyone here, he definitely wasn't trying. No matter what you do, you won't beat a SS in a straight line. Kinda humbling if you ask me. . .I tried in a JRSC GSR and he spanked the shiet out of me before I shifted to 2nd. And I don't think he knew we were racing! haha. . .oh wait

SkyeC,what happens if the f body is modified?Most likely he will still lose.Supra's will run 11's with bolt ons.there are a lot of supra owners here in this city almost all of them are 11 sec cars.I have driven a few.One of which runs 11.60@120mph the car is smooth and rides like a lexus until you get it into boost.If you spend your money well with less than $4k you can run 11's with a Sup and it doesn't compromise any of the reliability of the car.It takes all sorts of crap including nitrous to run those kind of times with an f body and you won'y have nearly the top-end that a supra has.if you want to go REALLY fast that is that car to have.

3 inch exhaust per side, high flow header, supercharger, nos, and the secret to you beating him, a 5 inch thick floor mat

 

LS1 powered SS and WS6 F-bodies are so frigging fast it's depressing.

Maybe I should get one...

 

I don't even mess with the SS or WS6, I get plenty of a$$ beatings racing my friend's '99 Z28, and he only has exhaust.

too bad they can't turn, if your gonna go domestic get an older car with no emmisions, they are fun to play with.

 

They're actually very good on the road course and to a lesser extent at the autox course. What do you mean by your comment that they don't handle?
