squeaking belts
i just got my timing belt replaced last week along with the water pump, p/s and alternator belts, and oil seals, and now there is small squeaking sound coming from the engine bay. this is only at idle though so im assuming it's belt related. when i rev it up, it goes away. i thought that if i'd ride it out, the sound would go away but it's been a week now and it's still there. there is also a distinct smell coming from the engine bay. it smells like rubber so this concerns me a lot. all this happened after the timing belt install. could it be that the tension on one or more of the belts is wrong? alighnment of the belts? any other ideas on this? any help is appreciated. thanks in advance.
note: before the belt replacement, when i turned on my a/c, the compressor belt squeaked loudly. after the belt replacement, when i turned on my a/c, the compressor belt stopped squeaking. but now there is a new problem as described above.

same thing happened to me when i had my timing belt package done. i have a 98 accord with 111k miles. exactly what kind of sound are you hearing? what is the year make and model of your car and mileage?
it's just a squeaking from the belt. nothing too loud. i have a 92 accord with 180,000 miles. come to think of it, the sound does change when i turn the wheel. i will go ahead and check the p/s fluid level. i'll let you guys know if that fixes the problem. thanks!
