help! rear bumper removal
hey guys,
i'm swapping out my rear bumper (thanks yellowblur!), and there are what looks to be 6 of those annoying clip-things . . . two near the license plate area, and four above that. how do i remove these, without breaking them?
thanks! any other tips on removing the bumper, smoothly, would be appreciated!

to remove rear bumper:
1) remove rear tub brace
2) remove rear interior black plastic (just the one in the back, 5 pop pins)
3) unplug licence plate lights, and feed through rear tub.
4) bumper is held on with 4 bolt/nuts (remove from inside tub), 2 screws (remove from under wheel well, and the two clips below the licence plate.
the clippy things that you speak of, hold the bumper cover onto a metal frame that is mounted under the top of the bumper cover. if your new one doesn't have the frame, just swap em over... think there's 9 total.

you mean, from the inside out? like, push the skinny part down through the hole? (boy, didn't that sound like something else . . . LOL
).
i assume that i still need to remove the interior piece as well. dang!

if you're talking about the inside liner where the trunk bar is, im pretty sure all you gotta do is push down on the little circle inside the plastic clip. here's what cresent from c-speedracing told me to do.
To remove the rear bumper is acutally quite simple. What you need to do is first remove the rear interior plastic trim panel that runs along the very back of the hatch. It has 2 plastic clips on the panel. To remove those clips, just push down on the center of them with a screw driver or something until they 'pop' down and then pull them out. Then you can pull off the plastic panel. Underneath the panel, you will see a few 10mm nuts. They will all need to be removed. (6-8 of them i think).
Then, inside the rear fender well towards the back of the car, there is a single screw that holds the bumper to the rear quarterpanel. The screw runs vertically upwards. There's one on each side.
Then, underneath your rear lisence plate frame, under the car, there are few black plastic clips that you will need to remove as well. Once they are all out, the bumper should slide off with ease. Just make sure you remove the rear lisence plate light once you have to bumper hanging off slightly.
