Default Steering wheel vibration

The steering wheel on my CRX vibrates so much sometimes it makes noise... it literally blurs as it's shaking around. If I grab it the vibration is lessened a lot. Is there any way to tighten it up, or is this normal?

probably an unbalanced wheel or warped rotor.

Does it vibrate always, or only at a certain speed?

Check those first.

There are a few things it could be. Either a bent rim, worn ball joints, worn outer tie rods, warped rotors or worn wheel bearings. If you have warped rotors then you'll usually only get vibration under braking.

Mine used to do that.....and the steering would wander a lot on the highway. Once I replaced the rack, it tightened right up and stopped vibrating.

Does it do it at idle? It might be the motor mounts.

Sorry that was totally unclear . It only vibrates at idle... it's solid at speed.

I'd think it was the mounts too except that it used to do that with the D16A6 too. I just thought it was normal.

how is your idle?? your idle could be the cause. and i think you were saying you have a b16 w/ idle probs right? i may be wrong it was on another post. if you are haveing idle problems that could def be it. mine does it only when it drops below 750rpms

It does vibrate a lot more when the idle drops, but at 750 rpms it vibrates enough to make a rattling noise out of the plastic cover...

is the cover loose?? should be tightly secured to the column.. i donno something else could be loose if not. but then i would think it's a motor mount.
