Default PT67 Q trim or P trim

Which exhaust housing would you suggest for a 2.0 gsr with a redline of 9600rpms. I'm looking for at leasts 650whp. I have been looking at a .68 Q trim but I'm worried about having a shitty powerband. Do you think a P trim would limit me much on power?

I heard the GTQ trim is the SHIZZLE and spool characteristics are similar or same as my P TRim in mine. GTQ Ask Art and Geoff! I love mine, it made 573whp and 355ft-lb torque at a local dyno cotest yesterday, only changes form last time is this is a stock valve and head and 9.5:1 CR where before it was PnP head oversized valves and 10.4:1 CR. The PT67 is SICK!

I spoke a long time this week with harry( the mastermind) at precision about this. I also spoke with tony from jotech too. here are the theories behind each one from what i gathered from both of them.

the gtq trim picks up more hp per lb of boost over the p trim but in return you have more loss of power in between shifts due to the heavier wheel. you have more lag also. if you have seen both wheels you know by looking at them that the gtq is heavy wheel and will not spool like a p trim. Now according to harry the p trim only has a slight loss of power compared to the gtq but it stays in boost longer down the track. for example, if you make 700 whp at peak but you are sitting in between shifts for X amount of time and waiting for the lag to clear up to reach full boost for X amount how much are HP are you making for most of the run down the track?? in other words you are making less hp peak with P trim but more overall on your full 10 sec pass then the Q. I usually recommend the gtq trim turbo for customers that are using nitrous and/or are lightning quick on the shifter. I hope what i posted above makes sense to you guys.

by the way, pictures of our new t70 "GTS" turbo will be up this week.

Great post Mike. With a good driver and a car that is setup mainly for drag racing would you suggest the GTQ wheel with a Q housing? Or will 650whp be no problem with the P trim? I also have nitrous already on the car if the GTQ will be much better for me.

If you go Q, then definitely go with the GTQ over the standard Q. I don't think you'll see too much lag difference between the GTQ and P, as the GTQ is newer technology and spools alot better than you typical Q trim wheel.

my vote is for the GT-P trim, but you cant get them yet so for the mean time get a P trim, its a proven wheel. if you need a turbo or price let us know...

Would a P trim start to fall off above 9000rpm on a 2.0? I'm leaning more towards the P, I think the GTQ might give me a shitty power band.

i dont see 650whp being a problem at all with a p trim. Tony if i am correct you guys ran a p trim with better results on kenny's car correct. the in between shift boost loss cause slower et's right?? I have seen already with a 63mm p trim in t04e housing and a .63 t3 rear make well over 600 whp under 30psi. so why would the 67mm t4 p trim not make 650?? I would go p trim if i were you. the 67 p trim will not fall on its face.

We ran a t70 p-trim and t70 q-trim last year and the q-trim spooled a tad slower, but made more power. That's about as big a compressor as i would go with a p trim, any bigger and your wheels are too mismatched. The q trim is bigger and actually works alot better with a big heavy compressor wheel because with the blades being longer, it has more leverage to spin the compressor wheel. For that power and that compressor, i'd go with the P trim, or like Geoff said, the GTP if you can get your hands on one.

If the GT-P trim were out I think we all would agree that that is what you need to run. Art? you got any ETA for the GT-P?
