Camshafts, who makes the best for the VTEC Ludes?
My buddy wants to get some for his VTEC Prelude..
I looked heavily into some for the SI, so I need to find out
who makes the best ones for the VTEC Prelude.
I told him to look at Crower, Jun, JG, GUDE & TypeS

to really know wich are the best for the h22a we would have to do a real test..
dyno test with the exact same engine..and throw in JUN. type S, crower stage 2..
stuff like that..and check out the results..i'm pretty sure the would be hella different
eheh
and it also depends on ur application
someone looking for drag will not likely want the same thin and a street car or a road race setup

alright well fuckit, I was hoping people who had them
on STREET cars had done research and what they thought with their
results, dyno'd or not.

The problem is most of this stuff is very new, very expensive or both.
There are two people (on the web boards) that have crowers installed and neither of them have dyno'd their cars. JG has some experience with cams but I think his were all custom grinds. VeeTec is in the same boat as JG since his grinds were also custom too. The JUN set is not out yet, at least that I know of (people keep saying that it is but I don't think it's available in the states yet). There are a few people who have Type S cams but most people think you're better off going with crower since they are made for the usdm h22 (type S cams have been known to score rocker arms on one occasion) and they make more power (stage 2 or 3's). And then there are the Feel's cams which are 2k so no one has them.

what Gabe said...and forget about Type-S camshafts, they hardly make any power anyway...I don't understand why people get them. Very poor investment imo.
Type-S has no power......are you insane. Give some Type -S cam and raised up my rev limiter I guaranted some dramatic change. And also dyno tunning with the V-AFC I'm defenitly hitting 13's. Tunning makes the differences...
About the Type-S cams why are they different from the JDM model and the USDM model..Marerials should be same only difference that I see could the valve train and the clearence..........Correct me if I'm wrong,
A friend of mine has JDM CTR cams for about more than 2 yrs no problem til this day

there is no problems with type S cams at all
it's a direct replacement
someone in our prelude club here just did the swap and checked his stuff
the main diff with the S cams are the angle..they rise reallly hard the lift companred to SIR/SH cams that are really smooth and follow a round evolution...
+ they got more lift at the top
i think that the S cams are a good investment if u don't wanna spend toomuch
but to get good effect u have to change to S pistons too to get 11.0:1 CR
booth theese together with tunning and reporg ECU can really make a diff..
but that's the cheapest way to do power with h22a

JDM Type-s cam's aren't that cheap, they sell like $550-$700 And for the money you can get Crower, which will make more power. I've seen numerous Preludes with Type-s cam's struggle to get even 180whp, I don't consider that very impressive. Crower has 3 stages, and can custom make cams to your specs...all on fresh billet cores. Sounds better to me
yes it is..
and i'm sure thatcrowers stage 2 canbe alot more powerfull than type S cams..
though we still have someone to shhow that to us before saying anything ..

Here we go again, CROWER says that there cams are more agressive than
TYPE-S, but you can't fool the ecu to get the full or even come close there horse power ranges. Now I'm well over 180 horse's w/o cams or any eternal work.
CROWER is made in the US, my car takes only Japan products.....Now JUN that is a different story, until I see there Prelude which they're are still tunning, I got money on the TYPE-S

D.specs :
what do u got actually onur car to hit 180whp without cams ?
the most i've seen done with bolt ons is 173whp ...and that was with apretty decent lossin thelow end ranges

Type S cams are a small power gain. like throwing R cams in a teg. waste of $$$$...
as for my choice? I had some custom ground BRAND NEW billits by... well, just read my sig.

Just bolt ons and fine tunning with the V-AFC....and that time I had a shitty intake manifold
JG LUDER, GOOD LUCK with your cam
