I've got a '93 Prelude no vtec. I want a new engine.

Can I put a '97 and up vtec Lude engine in my 93?

Yep, but I would get a pre-96 engine to stay OBD1.
you will need the VTEC ECU along with the engine if you do the conversion.
If you have an SI the tranny will work with the VTEC engine.
ARD Performance sells some JDM's for good prices & LSD's.

what if I have just the basic 93 prelude? Will I need a new tranny? What other things will I need to make this thing race worthy?

You can use a OBDI ecu with OBDII motor.
