too good to be true?
so i've been looking at trying to get a type-s/euro-R h22a for a while now, and today i called some shops, some offered me the engine for 5300, one for 5000, and one online place says 4200, then i called this place that got good ratings and the guy said he could get me the type-s engine for 3800 AND install it, does this sound too good to be true? how could i make sure i don't get scammed or something? is there some way for him to prove to me in front of my face that the engine is an authentic, real type-s/euro-R?
He's probably just selling the engine minus the trans. The only real way to tell if it is a type S is to do a compression check. He might have taken a Type S block, sold the guts and head, then replaced them with H23 parts and put the red valve cover back on.
so i called him back... it comes with a transmission... i'm really confused what the codes on the engine mean you mean i just look for where it says h22a? what exactly is that, i looked on the thread someone told me to look at but i didn't quite understand... if someone could explain to me i'm kinda slow... and have been looking at car stuff all week... i'm starting to like burn out haha

well, the engine code should be h22a and the tranny code i believe will be m2b4. the location of the engine code is on the block next to the transmission bell housing. the tranny code will hopefully be on a sticker on the top of tranny. look below the upper rad. hose and it should be on there.
i'm not 100% sure on the those codes, but they should be right. the best way to check would be a compression test. you can buiy a compression tester at any auto parts store. the numbers should be about 220 psi with a type-s. again i'm not 100% on that so maybe someone could chime in if thats incorrect.
if your not sure on how to test compression search archived contents for compression test in the prelude forum.

Type-S is an SH block....so unless you have an SH you would have a lot of problems...but if he said including install hell I'd get it in writing and force them to ad ATTS to your car...haha no that would probably not work out for you
Accord Type-R engine code = h22A7 tranny code U2Q7, single runner IM
Euro-R tell engine code = H22a tranny code T2w4, single runner IM
Type-S engine code H22a tranny code likely M2U4
