Default My ZC blew a hole in my muffler and cracked the exhaust pipe!

So I went out for lunch at work today, and as I'm driving back from work I start to hear a thunk and the sound of metal dragging. I knew it was exhaust as it's stock still and it is all rust basically. It had cracked and broken in the bend right after the resonator and the muffler had a huge 4'' hole in it. I had been planning on getting a new system but now I have no choice! Do you guys think it was the back pressure or just a little bump + rust and 13 years of driving? Both of these happened at the same time, I'm sure because I had been under there this weekend and everything was rusty but ok.
Anyways, the guy I bought the car from is working out of a local shop now and said he'll have a new 2.25'' Magnaflow system on for me tomarrow. He is charging $375, which seems a bit high, but that does include the muffler and the resonator, plus I don't have to let it go for long. $375 isn't too much is it?

Even if it's mandrel, I think it is pricey. Unless you are picking up a nice resonator that is also 2.25.

If it's stainless, then thats a good deal. If it's not stainless then I think thats too much.

He's also putting on a good 2.25'' resonator (not sure what kind). I figure even if it is a little high he is 100 feet from my house and I'll have it tomarrow.

Hahahaha. That's what happens when you don't prep the chassis for the motor. My freind blew through six midas mufflers before finally buying a catback. His car was all stock except for an old school racing header. High RPM plus a shitty exhaust that was probably falling apart insde as well = boom.

double check that your engine isnt running too rich. (hold a sheet of white paper an inch from the tailpipe and see how many, if any, little black specs you see.)

hold it there for a good 10-15 seconds.
the more/bigger then black specs the richer you are.
