Advanced Auto carries them, their computers will bring them up if you have the Bosch number, which might throw the counter guy as they are used to going by SKU numbers. $32 after tax for the Saab unit I run, I can yank the PN off it if you want. It should be good to 15 psi on a small displacement engine (that's what the Saabs run them at) but when trying to use on bigger engines that have to blow off bigger volumes of air they fall apart quickly... I know a couple guys tried them on their Mk3 Supras.

There was a website that was selling the brass constructed Porsche BOV for $25 plus shipping. It was linked to ina recent, rather large thread about BOVs in this forum. Happy netsearching for it

Saab != Porsche BOV.

The Saab is doing me fine in 200-240 whp trim. The Porsche should be good for about anything.

Oh, yeah, my little secret... Saab 900 45 degree elbow that fits the Bosch BOV's. It's PN 75 28 995. Cost is $12, wholesale is $14.40, list is $18. Fits 2.5" charge pipe, perfect for mounting right before the TB in that last 45 degree bend before the charge pipe shoots into the TB. If rpr's site is back up, I'll post pics in a few minutes.

Tha Saab dealership has them as part number 4441895....they want $70.99 ...are there ANY other places I can get this?

EDIT: I keep coming up with 2 identical parts....one is a "Overrun Cutoff Valve" and the other is a "Charge Air Bypass Valve"..which one do I need?..they are not the same price but look exactly the same!!!

How about the link I shot you?

Anyway, the nifty BOV/boost elbow:

Gotta love OEM quality, the aftermarket lacks it.

Porsche spec Bosch
Porsche dealer # 993.110.337.50) (in reality Bosch # 0 280 142 108); described in Porsche speak as an 'Air Cut Off Valve' (reportably off a 933 twin turbo)

from here
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Note: Under higher boost pressures, (eg above 16 psi), the valve can start to leak , ie the diaghram begins to lift off the sealing face as the internal springs' resistance is exceeded. - A higher pressure/quality valve is required.
For high flow turbos, dual (x2) vent valves have been used.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I found this: http://members.shaw.ca/turbofiero/bov1.htm

I was interested in the differences between the BOV and the CBV...more specifically, the CBV is open at idle and the BOV is not....both hold pressure the same....so, if the CBV is open at idle and cruising, wouldn't that extend turbo life and boost your MPG's? Any thoughts?

Or you could just realize you don't need one....... the aftermarket's just getting rich off these things...... i've seen 1800hp cars w/o BOV's....... seems like this doesnt matter to anyone thou....... guess everyone has 2F2F syndrome still

whatever you say, chief crazy horse. you sure don't need a bov - if you never let off the gas (ie 1800hp race cars that use 2 step automatic trannies).

When your **** sounds like a dove coo-ing everytime you let off the gas, it is called compressor surge and it pretty much destroys your turbo. Think about it, how would you like to go from spinning 100K+ to having to come to a dead standstill because you've hit a brick wall?
