Default DC5 ITR?

Don't hate on me please, I did a search on this site and google and found nothing. Seems like I remember someone saying that the US was getting the DC5 R next year or the year after?

If someone could give me some info I would appreciate it, I may just wait and buy one.

dont just search on google
use this site's search function and you will see DC5R is coming next year or the one next or after 2. i was told from dealer in canada dc5r will be here "next year" which was two years ago.

I'll believe it when I see a press release from Honda, or when they are on the dealership floors.

and thats all they are, rumors

from major magazine articles to internet, when it comes to honda, it seems that real information doesn't start to show until the very last minute.. maybe a month or 2 before release..

How about everyone just calm down and wait until they get to your local Acura Dealer...would that be so hard? If you live your life on speculation and rumors and hearsay, then I feel bad for you.

Be patient, you'll know if it's here or not when it....get this....GET'S HERE.

When they originally released the ITR in '97, was there any kind of marketing blitz, or was it more like 'Hey what's that weird looking Integra?"

A lot of the rumors have been pointing to February, which would mean that the cars are already in production, or at least nearing production depending on how long it takes to make a complete car and ship it to the USA from JDM-land... So if the wheels are in motion at Honda for a USDM DC5R or EP3R, I'd figure we'd at least hear a few more concrete rumors than just stuff that the magazines are saying. 3 months until the new R's are supposedly out? Wouldn't you think they'd at least BEGIN marketing if nothing else?

Don't get me wrong, I'm super hopeful for another R on US shores, I'm just beginning to doubt it's going to be as soon as we all hope.

why would they market a car they are going to have no problem selling more of than they plan to make?

unless they are going to try to build thier brand, which i dont think they need to do either. I just dont see how it would make financial sence to "market" the car.

I don't really even mean commercials or anything, just getting the word out to places like the Temple of VTEC, some real information to the car mags, etc. Most people can't up and just buy a car, there needs to be some planning involved to get your financial ducks in a row. It just seems kind of silly to me to suprise the market with a product, no matter what it is, when you consider Honda could release as little as an official press release and the word on the internet would spread like wildfire providing better advertisement than they could pay for.

Ok, I just called my local Acura dealer and spoke with the sales manager and asked him about the RSX/Integra Type-R and not the Type-S and if it will be available soon if at all. He said yes it will be here within the next couple months. (This im not so quick to believe) so I tell him, if you can dig up some official information call me back on my number :tells number: and I will give you my fax line so you can fax me the documents. Then and only then I will be in putting a down payment.

He says ok and will get back to me at the latest Wednesday. So we will see, I have a money hungry business man doing reasearch for me with the incentive of money. It cant get any better than that. If I hear anything or get any fax I will share with the forum the faxes.

You all may want to call your local Acura dealer and see what they say. Just my 02c

I think Honda lost money when they made the ITR's and I don't mean because they didn't sell. I mean because they had the engines hand built and what not....I don't think they netted any profit and I would bet they lost money.

So there's one reason why you may not see an RSX R.

I HIGHLY doubt honda lost money by bringing the ITR here

I really doubt Honda lost money as well. Anything's possible I suppose, I hear Honda loses money on every Insight sold, that could be an old wive's tale though.

The profit margin for the insight is supposed to be a lot less.

I believe the same way for the ITR too. It was limited so it doesn't really make a difference.

For the sticker of $24,600 that car was a steal!
* I hope that was the right price

90% of honda/acura salesman ive ever talked to have little to no clue on what is coming out or even rumors. Id love for honda to bring the CTR or DC5R here like everyone else, but unfortunately i think the substitute for that was the weak factory performance packages. I also feel that if they do bring those cars here, they might unfortunately be watered down than the JDM counterparts. Nobody is going to pay near 30k for a DC5R.

Because some people who are thinking about buying a new car, would like to see the available cars on offer. Thus if they know that the DC5R is coming, they can hold off for a few months and get the car they really want. Instead of the watered down Type-S, like when people bought the GSR, not realizing there was going to be a ITR, and then were very annoyed.

I heard from sources at Apple Tree Acura near Asheville NC that it will be here "next year" and nothing more was said about the subject. Like so many of you have said, I'll believe it when I see it.

What kind of has me bothered about the DC5R and the EP3R coming is consider the HFP packages that go for what... $4k plus install? So $4500 or so above what you're already paying for the car? For a body kit and mild suspension upgrades? I'd imagine the R version of the DC5 or EP3 would be about 5k over MSRP of the existing RSX-S/EP3, so who in the world would buy the HFP package when you could get an R for the same or a little more? Unless you have an affinity to leather seats, or some crazy-*** proprietary bose sound system...

Not only that, but an EP3R would be in direct competition with the DC5S performance (most likely) as well as price. Same goes for the DC5R and the S2000. I don't know, I wish they would send more R's over, I just don't see where they would fit in to the Honda product line right now without either overlapping, or making existing products pointless.

But as extremely limited production vehicles, maybe a little over 1000 each model year, very little of the sales of these products would interfere with the standard product line. I do agree with you on the factory performance packages though.
