Default custom turbo kit (????????S)

thanks for reading this. I have spend hours doing searches and reading post and haven't found what Im looking for. Im shore this has Benn talked about before so if you can give me some links that would be cool to.

I was going to get a revhard kit for my b16. but every time I read one of the "revhard of drag" post everyone post there opinion and then seas that "custom is better if you know what you are doing" I don't know what im doing! this will be my first turbo kit. In the 8 hours that I have spent on HT just reading alone today and plenty more everyday prior for that last few weeks. I have learned a little about how to make a kit and where to get parts.

I also learned that you have to get the right components that will work together rather then against each other. there are so many different manufactures with different quality levels. I just don't know what to get. so I was wondering if you where going to make a custom kit what components would you use?

my set up is a b16 in a 92 cx hatch. my target HP is 300WHP. Im also planning on getting AEM EMS. I would like to do this with stock internals as well. I have a AEM fuel rail and regulator and an in tank fuel pump if that helps any. my IHE are coming off when the turbo goes on so they don't matter now.

I appreciate your time. sorry about posting something that has Benn posted on many times before. I just couldn't fiend what I was looking for.

thanks again
Adam.

copy other ppl setup, u see what they have like Jamal with his b16 coupe.

depends how much you got to spend too

of course precision sc-61, inline mani, tial wg + bov, custom 3" dp + intercooler piping, your choice of intercooler or whatever in your budget... upgraded fuel injectors, boost controller if needed

you can get 300hp w/o a sc61, you don't need it for everything people!

-I suggest a t3/t4oE-trim
-MBC
-Inline Pro manifold, don't need ne thing fancy for 300hp
-Intercooler..... whatever size you want, I still haven't figured out why people run these huge *** intercoolers, i've seen 500hp cars with 12x8x2.5 intercoolers... so whatever you want sounds fine......
-I'd spend the rest of that money on injectors, piping, exhaust, decent wastegate, clutch, and some dyno time......... lets not forget the misc crap also....... ehh you might do it for 3grand....

good luck

just look around at what other people have on their cars, and find out about those certain things...

most people would agree on the tial 38mm wastegate, and a greddy type s bov, they are quality parts, and not too expensive at all...im kteller8, he has GREAT prices...

the turbo is a HUGE debate, the t3/t04e is plenty of turbo for you, and you can find them for RELATIVELY cheap, but the sc61 is that same turbo with many hours of research and development, and a few plusses here and there....(sparkracing has an awesome price on both especially the sc61 until dec. 31)

the mani is another big debate, but the inlinepro is a VERY good peice for a pretty damn decent price...i THINK 400 for a b16 i have a friend who owns one and tried a full-race, and swaped back...(not at all knocking full-race, just stating that cost isn't everything)

the cooler is another issue, but entirely up to you...spearco, precision, greddy, apex....many choices, all personal opinions (mostly)

fuel delivery is the same way...rc injectors are good, and you already have the in tank pump...

other than that TUNE, TUNE, TUNE!!!!! get those numbers up

one of the main reasons to go for the sc61 would be for the VERY quick spool time, and the more power potential, becuase precision makes ther own housing, which are thicker than the normal garrett ones.

ya I read that the sc61 was good for 550hp my goal is only 300WHP do you think that a sc61 would be overkill for a 300WHP goal?

If you want a Precision turbo, then you want the SC50 for your application.

that souneds like it is a good turbo and will fit my set up.

HT is on a precision turbo BW right now is there any other quality turbos that are being over looked that would work with my set up?

Turbonetics, Garrett, and Innovative also make nice turbos.

Garret would also be a good choice if you opt to save a little $, but go with precision if you have the $.

I think the sc61 maybe a little overkill, despite it being a baddass turbo It isnt for everyone!!!!!!!

thanks for the link!

what would the difference be in a .63 and a .82 air house. and is a t3/t04e a good turbo for my goal of 300 WHP?

is there any where I can read about what the different trims and housings will affect?

.63 is ok for street i like the .48A/R personally delivers more torque down low excellent for street driving, its a give or take the .82 is way too big unless you got a real high revving motor/ high flow/large displacement such as the type R or an H22a etcc.

i think for the B16, you're gonna want some kinda torque in that thing finally, stay with the . 48, on my LS, at 9 psi imade 215 Hp and 200 torque ( additoinall 15-20 could've been gained from a more agressive tune, the tune was so damn conservative yous wear u can run 89 octane on it) also its a smaller T3 super 60, doesnt flow as much air. for a B16 if youw ant a good street turbo i'd go .57trim .48A/R turbine. turbo

This some of the best advice I have heard. I wish I would have spent a little more time just searching archieves and asking questions before I bought my kit! Dont forget the Walbro fuel pump. For $100 shipped it is a nice addition!
