I have a 2001 civic coupe and whenever i switch modes on the heater to the one with the floor vent and the defrost mode together the a/c comes on.
i know the a/c is supposed to come on when you turn the mode to just the defrost vent.
is it normal for it to come on in the floor/defrost mode?

 

u mean the A/C like the little light? cause all thats really doing is running the compressor i believe...someone correct me if im wrong.

 

It doesn't do that in my 96 Civic but maybe its normal for the 2001+.

 

the a/c comes on with those setteings because the a/c pulls moisture out when it passes over the evaporator so your window doesnt fog up. if you really want it to stop pull the a/c relays in the underhood fuse box.

 

my 1998 didnt do it either. i knew it was supposed to come on in the one mode but wasnt sure about the floor and defrost mode.
