h23 stock block....what rpm u guys turning
I once revved to 6800 when I did the money shift. Fortunately, I caught it in time.
Otherwise, I shift at 6100. There is no reason to rev it anymore.

I'm not reving yet, but I'm heard of people with h23 vtec's that rev much higher without problems... maybe for a stock h23 there's no point in reving higher then that, but I know it can hold it.

Oh it will hold it all right, but not for long..

not necessarily.... I've talked to a few guys that have reved to 7800 all day, and are still running strong... especially the turbo guys that need more rpms. I'll try and pull up the convo we had, and he can vouch with his personal experience.

? something here doesn't add up. Anyway I try to aviod going into the red too much, but after some experimenting at the track I found out that 1st and second enjoy are only good to 6.5k but third pulls hard to the limiter. shifting at like 7100 got me my best times.

It's all fun and games until you spin a bearing.

I shift at like 6200-6300... after that it seems like the power levels out. I run faster times shifting around there than I do if I run it up higher.
94 H23
First Gear - shift at an indicated 7000 rpm on stock tach (it's actually about 6700rpm)
Second Gear through Fourth gear - shift at an indicated 6600 rpm
I hate how low the redline is on this engine

This *was* part of an H23VTEC. And yes that's my garage, not a pic I found on the 'net
I think there was more wrong than just a simple overrev, but I am sure that's a significant part of what caused it.
