Default Took the turbo h23 to the track with the new setup...

Well i went to the track this morning to test out my new setup. Well i think i did pretty good for street tires. The last time i went to the track i was boosting 6 lbs and running some bfg drag radials and i managed to pull off a 14.4@96mph w/ a 2.1 60ft time. This time i was runnin some 16in rotas w/ kumho 712(i think that's the right number), and 9 lbs. All i can say is damn this thing pulls hard. my first run i spun to the top of 3rd and missed 4th but managed to pull off a:

2.51
6.839
10.1@70.4
13.1
15.5@94

My second run i got a better launch and pulled off a:
2.466
6.75
9.9@77
12.66
14.8@102.08

My third run was my best.

2.44
6.64
9.8@77.7
12.44
14.68@102.1

Now all i have to do is put on my slicks and and i'll be headed back there next week. I think if i can pull off a ~1.8-60ft time i can easily pull off a mid to high 13 sec.

well my old street setup had

t3/t4e turbo
spearco fmic,
hks bov
tial 35mm w/g 6lb spring
rc 550
walbro 255
hondata s200

New setup is the same but i got rid of the spearco fmic and got a spearco h2o-to-air. and a 9lb spring.

Boostedh23a,
Well i was kinda pissed off with the time but the mph made me feel a lil better knowing that i have some 23x8 slicks in my garage waiting to be mounted

First off...the dragstrip is NOT "The track".

Your 60' time is what is killing you. You should be closer to 2.0 secs. That means you are not getting good traction.

o, well excuse me i took it to the dragstrip.

And yes i know my 60 is killin me. That's what slicks are for. I"m sorry but i haven't seen any turbo prelude on street tires(not drag radials) hit a 2.0 60ft

slicks will only knock off .2-.3, and street tires will only get 2.10-2.20 60 ft times at best generally.

If slicks knocked off almost a second, I'd have been running 12's allmotor. lol
I personally don't think slicks alone will put you in "mid" 13's. Just my opinion.

You may dip into the 13's on a good night with low humidity and cool air, but don't expect them to magically launch you into the record books.

I can run the same 1/8th mile (9.9) times on my stock internal h22 with bent valves bad rings and a crack inmy block. Not rtying to be an *** but I would think a turbo setup would be faster than my crappy engine

well the saying goes, "every 10th knocked of the 60 is 2-tenths in the quarter. So if i pull off a modest 1.9 60ft time that's 5tenth of a difference in the 60 which would equat to a sec off the 1/4

When you spin your tires to the top of 3rd, I think its more then just a 60' time problem.. Your usually out of the 60' mark end of 1st..

Speaking from experience slicks make a world of difference on a boosted lude...the best I've ever pulled on street tires was a 2.3 60' which resulted in a 13.9@113. Now add some 24.5" M&H's and this is the result:

So IMHO on a boosted car that roasts 1st -> 3rd slicks _can_ be worth a second in the quarter.
