What's with S2000 shifters?
Been a long time since i have posted here. Bossted prelude was totaled and i instead bought a porsche 951. Since then i have been on rennlist (porsche forum) and they had a comparison of an S2k and a boxster. I wont go into how it came out but no matter which side people are on, it seemed everyone loved the shifter. I have never driven nor riden in an s2000 but what makes the shifting so great? I'm just curious.
You'd understand if you drove one
The smooth and short range of the clutch combined with the close and tight shifter throws is just amazing.
You can rip through 6 gears in an amazingly short amount of time.

Many a magazine writers have said that it is the best shifter out there at any price. The first time I drove an S, I keep trying to put it in first gear not realizing that it was in first gear because the throw was soo short.
It's very hard to describe the feeling. You have to go test drive one.
It is VERY short, and feels very solid. You know when you are in a gear, unlike regular "short shifters." It feels as though it could have a gated design as well.
Some magazines have said that is similar to a sequential tranny because of the short ratio 6 speed setup.
