Default question about wiring my sub (dual 4ohm)

well i got my 15" rf hx2 and ive got it hooked up to my sony xplod little piece "1000w" amp. (after i get my 2nd 15 im getting a jbl1200.1)
ok well. since the sub is dual 4ohm and the amp puts out the most bridged at 4ohms can i get away w/ wiring it up?

the thing ive done for now that hasnt blown anything yet is ... i put wire in both + and - of both vc's. then i twisted together both +'s and both -'s then i just hooked that up bridged to the amp. this isnt the same as wiring it in series is it?
i would think if it was runnin 2ohms and the amp was at 4 i woulda blown something by now. HELP ME IM SCARED i dont wanna blow this sub!

its loud as hell by the way!

Each 15 has dvc each rated at 4 ohms.

The way you are describing, the speakers are in parallel which means the amp will see a 2ohm load if you have one 15's hooked up.

When you hook up the two 15's wired the same way, the amp will see a 1ohm load.
Make sure the amp is 1ohm stable.

well what would happen if the sub WAS wired to 2ohms, i dunno if it is tho, but if it was and the amp was wired bridged at 4 ohms.

If you wire each sub to a 2 ohm load then wire the two subs in series to bridge the amp @ 4 ohms.

If you have one sub with dual 4 vc's on a mono amp, you are running at 2 or 8 ohms. I would bet money that you are at 2 ohms. The explode probably is not capable of running that load. Run the vc's in series and your problem will most likely stop.

yep,the amp is shutting off because of LOW impedence.hook it up in series or you could posibly fry the amp!

so i can run an 8ohm load to the 4ohm bridged amp?
so its cool as long as its not too low a load for the amp.
and will the sub be seeing the same power?

im getting my 2nd sub after xmas along w/ a jbl 1200.1 amp.
and i think ill run my subs together at 1 ohm. the 1200.1 is 1ohm stable...right?

I think the BP1200.1 is stable at 2 Ohm only.

Note: No think, I'm shure.

For now, just wire each coil to each channel on the Xplode. This way it should never cut off. Unless there is a problem with the amp or the install (ground?, +?)

Whenever you get the JBL and keep the DVC subs, you can use the mono outputs from the BP1200.1 to run each sub independently but wiring each one in series, so the amp will see 4 Ohm and run cooler. If you wire'em in series, the amp will see 1 Ohm and overheat causing damage to it. (although it's protected, but..)

The best way to use the BP1200.1 more efficiently is by using two single voice coil 4 Ohm subwoofers.
