How much does Wheel weight and size affect 1/4 mile times???
Sup everyone, I was just wondering how much wheel weights and size affect 1/4 times and the car's overall acceleration? I have a 2000 Prelude SH with 17" 23lbs rims. This past weekend I ran my car at the Track and got a 15.1@93MPH and a 60' time of 2.379 (I/H/E/V-AFC). Now I am wondering how much of a difference would it have been if I would've ran with my SH rims instead of the heavy 17". If there is a significant difference then I would like to try and run with my SH rims at the next race. If its not then I won't bother swapping on my stock rims for its a waste of time. Thanks for any info and reply.
Big Difference.
Your stocks are prolly 6-7 lbs lighter per wheel.
times that by 4. weight savings plus less inertia on the wheel.
Having bigger rims on is similiar to changing your gear ratio.
If you ran that time I wouldnt be suprised to see break into the 14's
with the stock setup and good tires.
