Help, can't drain tranny fluid...
I decided to switch over to redline MTL. Under my car today I came out looking like I got beat up, (dirty and some cuts) without any fluid change. The drain plug on a '90 Si needs an alan key of 13mm. I cannot find, anywhere, a 13mm alan key, could someone please help... Thanks.

The plug, or maybe nut I was looking at has a square hole. Looks like it can fit an alan key. Now that I think of it, an alan key is more hexed than square. I could fit a ratchet with no socket on it in the square hole, either my tools are too weak, or it's fitting too lose. I think I still might be looking at the wrong bolt. I need to invest in a manuel.
fixhondas: Where about is it? There are many bolts... Thanks...

Just curoius, but I am currently using my honda screw jack to jack up my car. I have two so I do them both at the same time. Is it unsafe for the chassis to only be lifted on one side, higher than normal? Thanks...
The 3g lude chassis is pretty stiff, you should be fine jacking one side; I do it all the time. The drain bolt is the lowest most bolt on the tranny, like fixhondas said it fits a 3/8" rachet. Use a breaker bar, you'll probably need the leverage on this one. And remember to remove the fill bolt before the drain bolt, in case you can't get the fill bolt off after you drain it.

By the way, let me know how the redline works.

for a 90si motor, there is a quick way to fill it if you cant get the fill bolt off. Just take the neutral position sensor from the top of the tranny off, and fill it there. Also works if you dont have a hose/pump to do it the right way.

On the top of the tranny I saw a rubber cap over a very small looking fill hole. As I looked down it, it appeared to be oil in there, is this what you're talking about?
Never work on your car with just a jack. Never Never Never. My neighbors friend was killed when his car collaped on him. The weight of the car crushed his chest. He did not have jack stands. He had a hydrolice jack that went out. The scissor jack is not very stable. Buy a set of jackstands. Do not ever work under a car without them.
As for the trans drain bolt use a 3/8ths ratchet. The head only. Your looking for a square bolt on the side of the trans closer to the bottom back.

Thanks, I always put bricks both sides of back tires. That only prevents it from rolling...
3/8 ratchet, damnit honda... This kindof bugs me. I have a set of tools, but they are kindof cheap, the ball bearing cannot hold pressure, so I cannot get the 33 lb of tourque needed to turn this crazy drain plug. Could someone point in a good direction of a good ratchet? Snap-on? Thats what my auto shop used!

and make sure you re-inforce them bricks to keep then from sliding!
Snap-On, Mac Tools, Sears brand Craftsmen Tools are all of good quality..
You may also want to visit a local parts store such as NAPA and see if they will let you rent a 3/8" breaker bar for the job..
On the stubborn tranny drain plugs I slide a small peice of pipe over the handle of a standard 3/8" ratchet, that extra length of pipe will provide more leverage in helping get the plug loose...

Could be the reverse light switch (cant remember), But yeah, its the sensor behind that little rubber breather cap. Just take the sensor out, and you will have a workable fill hole.
That's a great idea, I'll have to do that next time I change fluid. I guess I still gotta remove the fill bolt to see where the level is at, but the fluid won't spill out like a **** trying to fill from the side.
I always fill the trans from the VSS. Just pull it out, and pour your oil in. Or you could do it the proper way with the bolt on the side while using a pump. But it makes a mess, and i'm to lazy to do it that way. If i am not mistaken its 2.3 quarts of oil. I either use Honda MTF, or Standard Castol or Penzoil or whatever 10W30. Depends on how much i want to spend.
Yeah, it is about 2.3/2.2 quarts of oil. I bought Redline MTL, when I finally have time to get it in I will give a review. I bought a funnel connected to long hose that is very small in width, less than a penny size. Anyway, thay should work good without having to use a pump.
Ok, I finally drained my fluid, got a new ratchet, a well built tool. Then drained with ease. Only problem, on the 3rd generation I cannot fit a ratchet and socket on the same time, then chassis is blocking me from doing so. ****, I am stuck, I have no fluid in my tranny. I need to put in tomarrow before work. People on this post talked about other places to fill tranny, such as on top. Where is that, could someone please, please explain where. If not, would it be at all possible to put the socket on the nut, then grip with vise grips to turn it, I don't think this is possible for get the torque to turn the nut, please help...

Alright, after talking to RioNinja I found what and where the sensor was. I took off the cap covering it, but could not get the sensor out. I need a wrench, I don't how the hell to fit the wrench down there to unscrew it. Is there a better tool to use? What MM? Thanks all...
Nevermind, I fixed it.
I gave up on trying to remove that sensor, so I removed my intake and parts around tranny to get to the blot, I literialy put blood sweat and tears into my car. You should see my hands...
Oh yeah, review on Redline MTL - awesome, big improvement!!!
