jeeze,
if you have natural gas where you are, you should go with that. i have one of those propane heaters and it will condense water all over your tools if you start off with a cold garage.

i'm installing a gas heater next week (along with an air compressor and scissor lift). i'm not tearing my hands up for the 3rd winter project in a row.

gonna have to open the back/ side door to your garage and have that thing like 10 feet outside! Some of those things are dangerous at anything less than that! Umm. ... smores!

I've definately used those to make belts stretch enough to loop around accessories. Don't get within about five feet of the cone or it will set your clothing on fire.

That aside, I love em .

How much does the kerosene one cost?

I had a propane one, and it used soooooooooooooo much fuel. The 5 gallon tank only lasted about 40 minutes.

kerosenes like 2 something a gallon. definitly keep the door a bit open. 170,000 btus makes 10 degrees seem like nothing.

I work in this garage thats bout 40 x 60 and we have one of those plus a wood stove and that keeps it pretty warm. nice choice the kerosene seems to last a decent amount of time too.

Those things are a life saver during the winter time. I have an overhead natural gas heater, takes forever to heat up, but at least theres no refill since its hooked to the house.

I'll be doing a winter install as well... Should.... pretty much... suck ***...

I used a cheap electric heater. It was 750 W low, 1500 W high power, and that thing could pump some decent heat.

The best part is I was renting a garage from one of many in a row at my apartments so I didn't have to pay electric bill. Yes, I kept it on 1500W the whole winter. It has a temperature guage on it so I would set it so it was about 75-80. Walk down to my garage in 15 degree weather, get inside, put on shorts and a t-shirt, go to work. It was great. I hope the electric bills were a grand / month for just my garage, suckers.
