Default Reverse lights

Hey I wanted to know if any of you fellows with crx's think that the oem reverse lights are a little weak? Has anyone used a higher wattage bulb? When I look out the back window at night to back up it's so hard to see.

Yup the halogen bulbs from Napa. I replied to a similar post well over a year ago, I wonder if the word got out to use them (at the time I made that post, there was a lot of people who kept asking me where to get them). I also have a switch connected to them so at night time when these immature/ignorant f*cks mess with me they get 55w Halogen flashed before their eyes. I've been using these halogen bulbs for 5 years now. If there's is no Napa, go to a 4x4 store they'll more than likely carry them.

Yeah the bottom end is exactly like an 1156 style bulb (single point). It just has a halogen style top end.

yes Halogen 55watts is very much brighter! You'll benefit at night when reversing as well.

OMG I just bought them tonight from napa. Best 19 bucks I ever spent on bulbs. They are so freakin bright, they blind all!

I just asked the a guy there for the 55w halogen 1156 bulb, He knew that I was talking about the reverse lights. They are made by Wagner lighting and come in a little blue box that says miniature lamp automotive. looks like the part number is p/n 795.

OX5647 was right, the bulb looks just like the oem base but with a fog light halogen top.

I'm sorry I spent all day trying to find the part# and a pic. I was very close to typing Part#595, but I was wrong. So yeah the part# is 795. For the 5 years that I worked at Napa, this part# was killing me just trying to even remember. Oh yeah if they run out or don't have the Wagner 795 bulb ask them for 795D from their Lighting catalog. A good Napa rep will know what I'm talking about.

Enjoy,
Ox

why exactly would you need to increase how bright they are? You said something about blinding ***** behind you. I dont see when a chance to throw your car in reverse would hurt them.... any place online where these could be bought?

It's called an auxilary switch connected to your reverse lights so that you may switch them on and off as you please. Which (if wired correctly) will not interfere with the reverse light switch when reverse is engaged. Trust me I have 1 too many immature kids on the road that like to mess with my cars and tailgate me. The halogen reverse lights will at least startle them. Most times it's made them back off, or speedway with their usual rev as they go by.

And I have yet (I've only been searching while at work) to find an online store. I know it's out there though, just search under google.

Yeah it will if you leave it on for a long time. I forgot to mention that these bulbs should be used as a reverse light only. When I use my toggle switch it's only on no longer than about 30 seconds (at the most).

You haven't had any problems yet (knocking on wood), 5 years and still going, no melted housing, you don't stay in reverse for ever!
