S light on but not blinking(91 accord)
well my tranny isn't shifting correctly and instead of the S light blinking to give me an error code, it's solid. the s button doesn't work either. i've reset the tcu(unplugged battery) but the light remains on. any ideas? thanks.

will an h23 automatic tcm work on an accord? i also have a 92 prelude si and was thinking about trying that tcm but don't wanna mess anything up. also the problem seems to be intermittant. the light comes on sometimes(and the car won't shift by itself) and other times the light is off and the car drives perfect. also, i've noticed when i start the car and light is on this solenoid clicks several times.

i can't find it in the online manual. anyone know what it's called? thanks.

i was thinkin it was 8...but the picture you have shows it rectangle, and on majestic honda, its a cylinder? i dunno. thats probably what it is though.
Your symptoms suggest that Honda TSB 90-039 may apply. This is a defective Transmission Control Module (TCM).
Symptoms: S light is on and trans is stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. The LED on the TCM stays lit and will not blink an error code. The interlock control unit (under the dashboard above the fuse box) buzzes or clicks.
Vehicles Affected: 4dr up to VIN 1HGCB7...LA121350
4dr up to VIN JHMCB7...LC104599
Diagnosis: Any of following confirm problem.
1) Depress the brake pedal. The interlock control unit stops buzzing or clicking
2) Reset the A/T Control Unit by removing fuse 24 in the underhood fuse box, then tet drive the car. The S light remains off and transmission shifts normally.
3)Removing fuse 24 does not clear the A/T control unit.
Corrective Action: Replace the A/T Control Unit (TCM).
Parts Information:
Japan Built EX: P/N 28100-PX4-932

Japan Built Lx & DX: P/N 28100-PX4-922

H/C 3521796
US-built LX & DX: P/N 28100-PX0-922

Warranty Information: Repair work may be eligible for goodwill consideration by District Service Manager (DSM). You must request consideration and get the DSM's decision before beginning work.
You might want to check several online shops that advertise to repair your ECM/TCM for certain problems. This one probably falls in that category.
Let us know what you determine.

well, my vin is 1HGCB7...MA083574 so i'm not sure if mine falls under the TSB. i also did the other things you suggested, pressing the brake pedal didn't make the solenoid click. for the fuse, i'm not sure which one was fuse 24 but i assume it's either the ecu or the backup fuse. i removed the ecu fuse and the car didn't start. i put it back and removed the backup fuse and the car started but the s light was still on. i also took out the tcm and looked at the circuit board for any obvious damage but it looked fine. i might just get a tcm from a junk yard or be ambitious and do a 5 speed swap.
UPDATE:
i just swapped out the tcm from my 92 prelude si(H23) and it works. the only thing i can tell that is different is that when i have it in D4 the s light is on but in every other gear the s light is off, but i'm just guessing that it's because that tcm wasn't designed for the accord. looks like i'm gonna be searching junk yards for a new tcm. but anyway, thanks for the help guys.
