bought a 94 ls tranny about a year ago off of ebay (this should teach me a lesson). i just put it in with my new clutch and flywheel. after a few days with the car still on stands and new fluid in there, it's starting to leak from the bell housing for the synchros an differential. ****. any ideas. thanks.
u should use something to form a gasket between both parts of the tranny
then if it's leaking from the axle holes just change the rubber seals
there is a seal at the clutch bearing too ..

If its leaking from where the two casings meet, and you dont want to take it out of the car, take the wrong way out and buy some JB Quick epoxy. Clean it up, and put a thin coat all the way along the seam. JB weld will chip off pretty easily if you ever want to pull the tranny and do it right. As a disclaimer, yes i know this is the ghetto way to do it, and i would only do this to patch up an already on its way to the grave tranny.

so you're saying jb weld will chip? if so, what is the reason for using this? and what is the difference between jb weld and jb eproxy? and how long will this last? so if i want to pull the tranny off, i should take the bell housing off and put in a new gasket?
another thing, is it possible to take the bell housing off by leaving the front of the tranny intact on the block?
i appreciate all the help

JB weld is just a brand of epoxy. It will last on there for years, but if you ever to decide to take it apart you can chip it off with a small chisel. If you have the resources to take the tranny back out, then just get new gaskets and do it the right way. I wouldnt even try to seperate the tranny while its in the car. I doubt there is enought room for that anyhow.

thanks for the help rio ninja. yeah, i would take the tranny off but, i don't want to do so because i just put it on about a week ago after putting in my new clutch. and i think the ****** that sold me the tranny took it apart already and that is why it's leaking. plus, he told me the threads for the large bolt on the side of the tranny (not the filler or drain bolt) has been stripped. so, i don't even want to attempt taking it off again and not being able to put it back together because of someone's mistake.

u cna't remove the tranny in 2pieces and leave the housing there..
it's not gonna pass..unless u brake it ro something
neway i should relaly take out completly the tranny
( removing a tranny on most hondas takes like 30 min MAX .. )
so that shouldn't be a problem
if something is STRIP replace it ASAP or later on u will regret that u did not..
and u should no use any type or epoxy to reapir the leak..that won't hold..
u if it's leaking in between the 2 casings u should reallly open the tranny and use something specialy for that.. like orange silicone ( gasket replacement one )
or special bond ..
this is the only way to really repair that ..

A tranny takes more than 30 mins to remove. that is taking into consideration the removal of the axles (pain in the ***), shifter linkage, suspension, etc. i'm going to try the epoxy first to see how it goes from there.
Whats the seal at the clutch bearing?
I have never had this problem before, but my brothers car is leaking oil at the post where the linkage connects. The one with the pin. Its really strange because thatst the only spot with oil on it. And it has lots on it. Is there a seal there. If so please let me know.
Thanks

no there isn't a seal there but i think it might be coming from where the intermediate shaft meets the tranny. and there is a seal there on the tranny itself.
I know which one that is. But its not leaking from the oil seals where the axles go into the trans. Only where the shift bar (the one that uses the pin) attaches to the trans. That is the only spot with any oil on it whatsoever. Any ideas?
