Default Pillow Mounts?

Sorry for the ignorance but what exactly do pillow mounts do, and are they worth the extra money. How many of you have them (specifically for Teins). Views. Thanks.

They make your car really squeaky.

I jacked this from some site out there, hope this helps.

Replace the stock damper mount and factory strut bearing with an aluminum mount and metal strut bearing. By replacing the softer factory damper mount and rubber strut bearing with metal components, vehicle handling and response become more firm and precise. Each upper pillow mount is made by forging, heat treating, then anodized ultra strong 7075 aluminum.

I can see how an upper pillow mount would help for a strut suspensioned car (ie. 2002 RSX), but I don't see how it would help a DC2 that has a real suspension.

I thought this subject has been covered before? Anyways, you know those two bushings that reside on the factory mounts? Yeah, those black rubber things. They compress to reduce the vibrations from coming from the wheels to the suspension and to the cabin. The DC2 R bushings are firmer, but nevertheless they still compress. A good example is to have someone drive a DC2, fold down the rear seats and open the plastic cap to expose the top of the damper...drive and take a look at how crazy that thing moves!

Using a solid medium (pillowball mount), rather than a compressable one (stock bushing) will keep the geometry of the piston rod more constant, the solid state of the mounts will also result in faster response when the car is turned.

Alas, these things are really overkill if you dont track your car.
