Agreed, but the coverage now isn't too bad. I just hope they don't replace some of the BTCC and ETCC with something like the new US drifting craze. I don't mind if they add it to their programing but they better not replace good racing with that crap.

Why? They show MUCH more racing on tv now.
Never before did they have sameday rally coverage, and def not 2hrs worth. Sure they show more Nascar now, but so? It's still racing.

The coverage was good as was the three races shown today.
4 big things I noticed...
1. The SSC field was just plain huge. That must've been fun!!!
2. The top 3 SSC cars were apparently running Hoosiers... But 2 of them had really, really big Kumho decals on their cars. I'm betting the Kumho folks didn't appreciate that very much
.
3. The GP field was pretty big. 38 cars. Bad news for me since it just gives me more motivation to move up to GP in the next couple of years and make a runoffs visit.
4. Our old Honda Challenge friend Ken Buchel (who ran a couple of races last year in H5 and is a super nice guy) finished around 20th in GP. Quite respectable in a field that large.

Well.... the 'technical' part of the show left alot to be lacking.
The SSC Panasonic Saturn team has been using kumhos for as long as i remember - and the commentators calling the car "heavy" is laughable (its probably the lightest in the field, at ~2550 lbs with driver.
But it was good coverage... and seeing a lunchbox roll everyone

They mentioned the top 3 cars making the decision to go to Hoosiers more than once. Maybe they meant full drys, but they said Hoosiers.
<shrugs>
Scott, whos been shrugging alot lately.

I'm pretty sure tom long(3rd in SSC) was on kumhos. I met him at lowes a couple months ago I think it was. Very nice guy and congrats for the great position. We were talking about the kumhos they were running on their car. I also thought they said they were on an intermediate setup as well. I don't think the announcers really knew what they were talking about because they kept mixing up information.

That's what Tom Long SR. said. Full depth Kumhos.

I'm pretty sure Tom was on full-depth Kumhos. Brilliant for the semi-damp start, but a bit off by the time the race finished. No problem, he was firmly in 3rd by then. Mike said he made the call for dry weather tires early on his hunch the wind meant a drying track. Nice call.

Watched the GT4 race again today on TV after watching it in person. Congrats to Keith Gillespie for a great drive from 16th to 4th in the HASPORT CRX. Got some camera time during the race passing cars and even an interview at the end for a nice drive. Good way to turn around what started out as a really rough week.

hopefully then can show the entire race insted of chopping the coverage for BTCC and ETCC, it makes it to hard to follow . I suppose cutting a old Nascar race or Nascar News and etc. would help, but i doubt that will happen anytime soon. Atleast we have speed though

It looked like Grahobec was mugged in his 99 GSR! It also looked like the Mazdas were stacking up behind him. The RSX Type-S cars didn't show well. I wonder what SCCA is going to do to equalize the class now that "trunk kits" are out.

It looked like grahobec was taken out by saucier way too early in the race, if it were the last lap I would say hold the standings as they crossed, but saucier had plenty of time to craft a pass, seeing as how the lighter miatas were so much faster on the back half of the track than the integra. After that the announcer mentioned every 30 seconds how he thought scca should make a judgment call, are these races announced after they know the outcome?
The races are announced "live" as they are happening. They announced at the end of the broadcast that Saucier was given a 1 minute penalty for spinning Grahovec moving Saucier from 1st to 19th. Also, Phillips who finished in third place on the track was disqualified post race for a tech issue.
Saucier did not have to do what he did. After the race he called it "unavoidable" but thats pretty weak. The guy was roughing up everybody around him and forcing his car into spots wayyyy too early in that race.
The sad thing is that all Saucier needed to do was apply pressure and be patient. NO WAY the front tires were going to hold up for 20 laps on that Integra under that kind of pressure. Absolutely positively no way in hell.

Did anyone notice before the SSC race they had last years on track winner show the "minor" part that was missing from his car that DQ'd him? It was only the brake line mount from the front shocks. Of course that means the shocks could slide further into the forks and lower the front end and get extra camber. They made it look like a technical foul, not a functional one.
As far as the SSB race, maybe unavoidable means that the car crashing is unavoidable after you hit him that hard?
I did really like the Civic that won HP. Funny how huge it looked on track next to the old Brit roadsters.

For those like me who missed it, Christmas Day is a day full of Valvoline runoffs. From 6 am in the morning to 5 am the next morning.
I wonder if I have enough hard drive space to record for 24 hours...
