alright my friend put a b16a1 in his little 91 hatch...it works fine but there isnt any vtec. and its not throwing any codes...what could it be? (i searched)

 

oil pressure? got enough oil?

 

its usually one or more of these 3 things.
vtec oil pressure switch or wiring
tps signal or wiring or
vtec solenoid or wiring

 

It can also be that the car doesn't want to go in vtec right now but after driving for a while it will go in vtec what happened to me

we put like 4 1/2 quarts of oil in it not sure bout the pressure

 

try the above, and if that checks out..

do u have a VTEC ecu???

i saw it and it says b16 ef on it i can check to see if it is or not but were there b16s with no vtec???

nope, make sure its a pr3, or a pw0
1st gen that is

 

its a PW0 ecu

definitely a vtec ecu...

make sure its getting all the signals it needs..

is this a DIY install?? u sure u wired it up right?

 

its a hasport vtec conversion harness

ok, the harness that HASport gave you, does it have a plug that goes into
your TPS...u know where the TPS sensor is right??

 

the harness goes to....
*knock sensor
vtec solinoid
vtec oil press switch
and second o2 sensor.
and ground

btw he convered to MPFI durin the swap. i belive u have to swtich the wires around on the tps for the dpfi-mpfi

ok so say the wires arent in the right order what is the car going to do?

never tried it out... when i did my swap i made sure everythign was done
once the first time...

 

brainstorming, taking a long shot here...maybe a fried VTEC solenoid switch...?!?!

 

if that was the case would the ECU throw a 21?
and if not ...how would it test it?

i dont have my ECU code sheet..whats 21 anyway..??
but if it was it, it would probably throw a code....

just check to make sure that those plugs are on tight, maybe ther arent in
all the way....

 

21 is vtec solinoid
plugs are on

nobody is perfect, maybe..just maybe HASport fudged when they made the harness.
i mean, youre running out of options....
