Default thermostat, does this happen to everyone?

the needle on the temp gauge never reaches the half way point it always stays about 2mm before the half way point (on the cold side). This is normal, right?

if you have aftermarket headers or heatshield off it may run a little hotter

When the weather is decently warm out, mine is in the same position always, but this cold weather has been making mine drop to the 1/8th point.

LOL!
I just picked up a Mugen 'stat and thermo switch, to deal with my temp problem after a couple laps on the track.
Looks like I'll also need to also re-do the Hondata intake manifold gasket install so a to allow the original means of coolant flow through the head ...

Can you run too cold?

The reason I ask is that my car never goes even 1/8 of the way up, except at a long stop, but whenver its driving I am at the coolest line possible? I do have an aftermarket front bumper which lets in a lot more air, but I never seem to be fully warmed up

same here, I'm afraid to use VTEC now, seems like swapping back the oem one for winter is the way to go.

It is possible to run too cold and lose power as well as use more fuel.... this is due to the fact that the ECU will sense that the car is running cold and may use a richer map....

I think the guys at P1 showed that it was best to use an OEM thermostat on the street and will only be beneficial to those in hot climates and or HPDE + track racing.

hehehe, my spoon thermo stat makes my gauge do the same thing. I tired driving the car when its cold outside (0-10 c), and the car never warms up. ECU stays on the cold start maps :"(

I have the Mugen t-stat and the Mugen radiator cap. Everything seems to work just fine. I'm just curious, should I swap the thermo-switch for the Mugen part or am I OK using the OEM t-switch ?
