How do you lauch an 00 S2000?
I'm not talking about street racing or drag racing, I'm talking about autocrossing.
I've autoxed 4 times with my S, and I can't seem to launch it good without some bogging that is not helping my times.
I've never even tried to burn out with the S as the consensous says that 1. it doesn't work well, 2. there isn't really enough torque to do so.
So how do you launch yours - tips/advice.. thanks.

Don't mash the throttle. Rev it to 4k and gently slip the clutch till you get traction. Point is, you wont have faster run times if you do a drag launch at the auto-x...well maybe a tenth or two faster but not seconds.

Its not that I don't care about my car - I've never even lit up the tires once.
I just wanted to know the safest way to get a good start off the line when autoxing - that is the only time I drive my S crazy.

j/p..
like the others said, launching it at 3-5K RPM and feathering the clutch till you get traction will give you slightly better times.. but not much.
I would just launch it lightly, and go like that and lose the extra .4 sec (or whatever it is) and save my stock clutch.

I rev to 6500 or so and slip it somehow. Can't really explain it just do it. I have however had too much gas twice and fish tailed through my launch. Oh, well. It's practice every time you go out. I ran a 14.3 doing this.
A good launch won't shave much time off your run; if you launch too hard you'll only wear your clutch's life down faster. Focus more on the run itself by mapping out the fastest, most ideal line of travel. I don't know what a good rpm is to launch at with a S2000 but in my LS Integra I take off at around 2-2.5k, nothing too harsh. Goodluck and have fun!
I launched my car around 6500 also and was getting around 14.1 - 14.5 had some wheel spin but thats hard to control with out slicks. If your car is turbo please let me know what you launch at I have not yet ran mine at the track and let me know what your times are.
