You smell gas in the oil?? Are you burning oil?

Do a compression check..

Your could try checking to see how much oil is passing through the breather tub. Clean the tub and go for a drive then check it again. You might need to install an oil catch can dont just stick a mini air filter on your jalve cover! Do it right.

If you're not burning oil or coolant it can't be the rings or the head gasket.

A catch can should ALWAYS be placed between the crankcase breather and intake manifold. You can put a breather filter on the valve cover or attach it to the intake. The valve cover breather should only have air flow into it. If air is flowing from the valve cover to the intake there is a serious problem. You most likely need to replace you PCV valve. The only reason to put a filter on the valve cover is to prevent you from sucking dirt and debris into your valvetrain and crankcase.

Now to help solve the problem:
What brand and weight of oil are you running? You should check for a possible gas leak. The oil and fuel never come into contact. Are you running an oil additive? It may be you have a gas leak. A quick test is to change your oil. If gas really is entering the oil then you'll be able to tell right away.

hey all,
i just swapped my intake manifold, and i have a gas odor in my car too. at first, i pinched one of my injector seals (at the fuel rail) and i had a small puddle of gas on my i/m. i replaced it, but i still smell alittle gas in my car. i also broke the fitting that the PCV valve goes into (between the #4 and #3 intake runners on the b16 i/m). so now my pcv is kinda loose. would this cause the fuel smell in my car? maybe i just need to air out my car some more...

If your pvc valve is loose you are going to leak oil........thats what you should be smelling if anything. Often times though when there is a leak and you have oil traces left behind it will smell until its completely burned off.

Do a compression/leakdown test and let us know.
