Si swap into 2000 cx
I did a search already...thanks.
I own a 2000 CX hatch and I don't see too many people swapping Si engines into their hatches. I was interested in finding out if anyone has ever done this complete swap and if you think it is worth it? Also, how difficult might this swap be? (I'm assuming it's not to difficult.) I mainly use my car for daily driving and I autox 1-2 per month. Thanks in advance.

It's a B16 swap into a hatch...that is something that tons of members on here have done. Honestly it's not that fast and for the same amount of money you can turbo your car and outrun people with the B16 swap (but the b16 does have more potential). And it really isnt that hard..if you have a Helms for a 96-99 Civic it has the engine removal for your motor and the engine install for the B16 right in it.
Plug and play.
Use 99-00 Si harness and ECU, and it will all plug in, except you will have to add wires for the second O2 sensor.
Or, use your stock harness, add VTEC and knock sensor wires, and extend the second o2 wires so it can reach the cats new location behind the engine.

He has a 2000 CX, so he already has the secondary 02 sensor, but it will need to be extended.

Thanks for the quick responses!
I wanted to stay away from the turbo setup because it takes time for it to spool up, which can cost you precious seconds at the track. Also, wouldn't an Si engine be cheaper?

That B16 has just about zero torque, so no matter how how long it takes that turbo to spool up you are going to have more power and torque than the B16. And you should be able to do both for just about 2500 bucks. Dollar for dollar the turbo is going to be faster, but require more work.

ic...well, that takes me back to the drawing board. i guess that b18b is starting to look better. The complete swap with install won't cost me $2500.

That's a great platform for boost later on as well.

Right, so the point is to look for a different type of tranny...gsr, b16, etc. I'm pretty knowledgeable about this topic...however, the long gears might work to my advantage...hmmmmmm.

very true, but then you can swap the B16 for now... rebuild and turbo that motor and have even better results then only boosting the D16. its all about the long run.

Of course I remember you! (Silly question...) Anyway, if you're doing a swap I'd like to help, or even just observe the process. If that's cool get back to me and let me know. [I'll send you an im too if I see you on line.]
