Default a better choice

ok here is my dalema, I am wanting to do a motor swap on my 88 civic hatch(dx) but I am not sure if I should get the 1.8 dohc non vtec from a 1st gen teg or a B16a wich is 1.6 vtec, I am not sure at this point if i am gonna run any type of boost. say I am going to just run N/A what would be the better deal for me

A first gen Teg has a 1.6 motor. Its very similiar to the ZC motor and should bolt right in.

The B16A will require a motor mount kit from HCP or Hasport and shift linkage (I think).

HTH.

b16a will be much faster, why settle for 1st gen teg motor when you can go b16a and be fast off the bat. Might be cheaper to go with the teg motor but youll kick yourself later on.

The 1st gen teg motor to the best of my knowledge will not fit an 88 and even if it did it sure would be stupid considering they are only around 100 horse power or so.

1st gen teg motor will fit, but those motors are pretty lame.

yeah, forget about the teg motor. The B16a will be faster both NA and boosted. Personally i would be afraid to run any boost on that old D-series.

If your talking about the 90+ integra motor however, then its a toss up.

That would be a 2nd gen teg motor though.

i would say......b16a....if ur not worried about smogging it....but if you are...go with either b18a/b18b
i have a b16a....doesn't do me any good here in cali where smog laws are king! =T
