I was driving my car as normal coming home today. Whenever I touched the brakes, my speedo needle would drop and my cd player would quit. They'd come right back on but its a very weird and annoying problem. It only happens when I hit the brakes.

Any ideas?

Yup sounds like a bad ground somewhere. Check your battery terminals.

 

I just cleaned them last Friday because the car was having MAJOR problems. The lights would blink and the car would stutter. That fixed the problem until now.

Is there anything I can put on the terminal to keep it from building up crud?

 

Vaseline or some sort of grease will keep the building up crap.
I believe they sell little packets of stuff at Autozone just for that.
It’s usually up at the check out counter and little small black packets.
