drive the car first, learn it and then decide what he needs for his driving ability and for what he will be using the car for.
the motons - while good, there are even more trick setups. it all depends what you need it for and what kind of setup you want. I see too many guys with double and triple adjustable coilovers on the street who don't know what they are doing and never see the track - it is a waste, but they get their bling bling attitude out of it.
you can spend anywhere between 600 and 6000 on a coilover setup alone. it really depends what he needs for his application, not what is the best.

i see i see... well his daily driving style isn't really hardcore racer or anything like that. he just wants a stiff, but smooth ride 'specially when he gets rims after the winter. he doesn't want too much bounce either - a lotta highway miles will be put on the s2 but mainly for commuting. so yeah, no autocrossing or anything like that for now... he just wants a clean dump
what would ya'll suggest for that?

Tell your "Bro" to understand the car before he goes and modifies it. I'll tell you right now - I have an 00 S2000 and have autoxed with it 4 times now, each time I learn a little more, but I have spun the car twice on two different courses. The S2000 is not a Civic. It's really not a good idea to swap the suspension before you can find 6th gear - LOL.
Edit: the stock suspension is smooth and very good for daily driving... Honda didn't cut many corners when they put the S together.

From the looks of it, if you want the lowered look but want to retain some sort of decent driving, any sort of coilover under 2 grand will suit your needs. They all end up being the same thing.

I like the Tein N1s, Apex N1s, and Zeal Super Functions... Again it all depends on your setup. I have JIC FLT-A2s on my WRX and I love them, they are absolutely perfect for the track, but perform excellently on the street.

They have fixed the problem with their seals. Maybe 4 or 5 out of 500 sold had this problem and it has been adressed by Tein.

So what would you rather get bro?
JIC FLTAs or Tein? My pricing for JICs is great, Tein pricing is pretty good, just not as good.
Disclaimer: Don't PM me for pricing. My prices for me than different than my prices for you.

k my bro has decided to spend 2000 on a suspension... what exactly can we get for $2,000? give me different set-ups that fall around that price range... he's also deciding on either Volk te37's or ro_ja formula5 rims.. (just an fyi if the size of those wheels will affect anything)

sounds like a stunna. 2k suspension on a car that will never see any sort of track.
A real friend would just tell him to get GC`s and Koni`s

uhhh, tell him to drive it first 'as-is', since it will have no track time. this way, he can see how it drives from the factory: well balanced.
even if he does blow money on coilovers that will never see close to 5/10ths of their purpose, make sure they are setup by a shop that knows what they are doing. or else, it will be wasted money.

the h&r coilover works well for the street setup... good price too...
i now run the jic flta2 in my s2k and its a much more agressive ride than the h&r i had.....
my friends s2k is runnin tein ra, he likes it verymuch....

What you guys who keep recommending these expensive coilover systems fail to reailze is that 90% of the people who ask suspension-related questions on this forum only care about LOWERING the car for aesthetic reasons. Just throw a decent spring/shock combo on there and call it a day. That's more than enough to suit your needs for street driving.
Alright I'll lay down all the facts and needs. '02 S2K: weekend driver, never gonna be autocrossed, probably run for time in the summer, gonna have rims in January so we need a decent, good looking drop for aesthetic reasons and not hardcore driving. Budget is $2,000 - $2,500 | start throwin out the set-up ideas and possibilities. Also, include rough prices of the set-ups
if you want to lower a little and have comfort get the Tein CS. Around your price range and is designed exactly for what you are describing.
I got this on my car LOVE IT .. well, i dont autox or drag just daily driven ... just wanted a nice suspension setup for a decent price.
i went with the bilstein pss. http://www.performancecenter.c...41079
I'll have pictures up soon just finished installing them. Tested the car out love it although it's not dampers adj. it handles very well compared to the stocks.

I would just put on a set of eibach lowering springs for his application. I think they run somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-400. Anything other than this would be a waste of money for him. If he is not going to track it then spending 2K on a set of coilovers is not that smart. This money can be used for many other aesthetic purposes since that is what he seems most worried about. Just please don't add a hideous wing...
