Default differential fluid

this might be a idiot question but my friend has a 96 accord lx auto tranny. is there seperate drain and refill for the differential fluid, or is that done by flushing the auto tranny fluid? thanks for the help.

no, all the same fluid. Although with an auto, you really only drain about 1/3 to 1/2 at a time, because most stays in the torque converter.

I do 3 drains/refills on our van, driving it a bit between each to mix it up. By doing this, it replaces approx. 70% of the old fluid with new fluid. I wish there was an easier way.

Yes, it's all in the transmission itself. Power flushing, about $70 plus fluid, is the best way to change it out. Otherwise, as the above poster says, do it manualy several times, a bit at a time. BTW, it is highly reccommended to use Honda ATF.
