Default CRX help

Im new to Crx's, and im pretty much clueless when it comes to it, earlier today i went to check out a crx for my little bro and to check out its condition etc..its a 88 ???? not sure if its dx or HF but the bodys condition is fair, back bumper cracked and front is disaligned with headlight a little bit, no rust in rear quarter panels and i didnt have a chance to look at the axles, but the interior is pretty bad both seats has tears and the gear box and shift *** seems off, but when i popped open the hood i coudlnt tell what the engine was but it was a D15B and not sure which model that is, it was from a dealer as well.. with 206k miles on it, has an exhaust and some strut bars on it, i was hoping it was stock but oh well, they were asking 1300 for it , i know i aint paying that much if i do decide to get it it will be under 1k, any help is appreciated

~1000 is right for what it sounds like
Invest in a carfax look-up that'll either seal the deal or save you from junk

the D15B7 is the 92-95 DX, not the 88-91 HF. the 88-91 HF has a D15B6. the DX is a D15B2, and the Civic STD is a D15B1.

If its an HF, it will have MPFI injection, and if its a DX it will have DPI injection. Also, if its an HF it will say "HF" on the rear passenger's side window trim panel. A DX will say nothing on that panel.

Difference at a glance between HF and DX?
MPFI on HF....DPFI on DX
There should be a label on the top of the intake manifold.

Also, if there's no model badge on the passenger side trunk "triangles" it's a DX. HF and Si were badged as such.

Or put it in second gear and go 40mph
DX: 4353 rpms
HF: 2881 rpms

That is...only if someone hasn't messed around with badges or tranny swaps.
