Closest gear ratio tranny is the S1/J1, USDM Si civic, or ITR

S1, J1 are JDM, there is a USDM S1 but that is an LS trans and you don't want that. Any B series tranny will fit your B series motor.... But if you get a Hydro tranny you need the new Hasport kit that allows you to use a hydro tranny....

what about the A1? I got one on my B16. Is that a USDM tranni only? if not, how can I tell if it's JDM or not?

A1 tranny is the same as the S1, longer gears (slower acceleration) from what I was told it was out of 90-91 Integra

If your looking for the best cable tranny for your b series, go for the 92-93 gsr ys1 usdm or jdm (rare but came is lsd as well). This tranny has similar gears to that of the late mode type r gearboxes and best of all, you can get replacement parts at any local dealership. The jdm s1, j1 and y1 do not have cross over parts in North America.

I like the VTEC YS1. The optional LSD on the JDM one would be nice too. Either JDM or USDM, as long as it's from a VTEC motor, it's good. Great gearing and great potential for a 98 Spec R LSD and 4.7 FD.

So is the A1, USDM exclusive or not? THat is what I am asking. Cuz if it is out of a 90-91 USDM integra then that means I got shafted on a tranni too cuz I was expecting a JDM tranni with quicker gearing. If there is a JDM A1, is there any way I can tell weither it is the JDM or USDM tranni? If it is USDM I imagine the gearing prolly sux ***. If it is a JDM A1 what is the gearing like? thanx.

The JDM A1 tranny shared the same intenals as the JDM S1, J1 with very short gearing. The north American S1 tranny has very different tall gearing and came with the non vtec b18a motor.

http://www.allmotorhonda.com/t...s.htm

Also earlier ypu said the internals on the USDM and JDM YS1 internals are the same?

You know its a funny thing about the YS1 trannies. I used to think they were different a couple years ago, thats why i bought a USDM gsr version, but i have talked to many people interchanging the parts between them and i don't believe there is a difference at all in the internals. I can check that further if you'd like.

That website doesn't say anyting about the A1 tranni. Does the A1 tranni suck? I don't think there ever was a JDM A1 tranni. I got a good feeling I got a shitty *** USDM integra tranni. Damnit! any way I can tell? I'll get the number on the Sticker tonight.

I have never heard of a jdm A1 tranny...

Well as far as i know the A1 is a USDM tranny and was out of 90-91 Integra. It was supposedly the same as the S1 Tranny but for some reason were labeled A1 and only came in 90-91. The gearing is supposedly the same as Y1,S1 and YS1-
which was 4.40

4.4 is final gearing, but not 1-5 gearing.

OF COURSE!! The Final drive is important as it effects all the other gear ratios, but 1-5 is important as well.

Ive only personally seen the A1 cable tranny come from U.S. LS Integras which would mean they have TALLER gearing, not good for acceleration ( especially on a torqueless B16) ( sorry SUPERJAY ! )

Hate to break it to ya, but a A1 coupled to your B16 is not right for acceleration. You are better of with a JDM Y1, S1 or YS1.

My pick for CABLE tranny would be the U.S. B17 GSR tranny. The gearing is like a Type R but with a real short 1st and I think 2nd.

My pick for HYDRO tranny is what Im running in my CRX currently. A 98+ spec 4.7 Final drive with factory LSD. JDM of course. The U.S. Type R trannys only come with 4.4 Final drive. You must use HASPORTs new HYDRO EF kit to run a Hydro tranny in your 4th gen Civic or CRX.
