Going through some boxes I had yet to unpack after the move I discovered a tape marked "Road Atlanta 1998." I decided to relive some old times and watch it.
It was an old Road Atlanta Track Days event (kind of like SPs FATT). I was an Advanced student with about 2.5 years of experience.

The car was my old GSR still in street trim. Shocks, springs/coilovers, engine bolt-ons, and exhaust on the old BFG R1s. I was absolutely tearing up the advanced group, so I whipped out my trusty stop watch and timed my best clean laps. They looked kind of slow by my current perspective, and uhhh... they were.
Oh yeah, indicated speed (pretty accurate) at the end of the back straight was 126mph.

FF to 2003. Now I'm driving an 80hp (on a good day) ITC Civic with a shitbox 4 speed tranny. Speed at the end of the back straight at Road Atlanta is about 110, 112 if you can get a draft or a tail wind.

Best clean 1998 lap in the Integra - 1:54.8
Best 2003 race lap in the Civic - 1:54.4

Oh yeah. The Civic lap was turned on a 96 degree day in August, the Integra lap was a cool day in mid fall.

Guess my **** wasn't as hot as I thought it was in 1998 .

 

Someone else's **** is always hotter.
