Default VAFC tuning???

With the APEXI VAFC. IS there a lot of tuning that can be done with it? Or should I just do hondata? I can probably get a VAFC pretty cheap.

Hondata is not much more expensive. I bought the VAFC and I wish I had a Hondata.

200 more. Not that bad. Considering all of the extra things you can do with Hondata. VAFC is very limited in what it can do.

Besides if you want to have the vafc plug and play, you have to spend 160 for the custom vafc harness.

With the Hondata you'll probably have to know how to read the maps and really know how to tune the ECU to get the fullest potential out of it otherwise you can easily screw things up. But I'm pretty sure Hondata has a defualt button somwhere that'll return all fuel maps to stock.

The question is what do you have done to your caR, if its minor bolt ons then VAFC will do, But if you have more then the reg bolt ons then the Hondata would be better.

From what I understand even a completely stock R does benifit more from the Hondata then a VAFC.

First things first, what do you have done to your caR?

Just curious, why did you ask this in the R forum?

anyway VAFC would be fine for now or your ek, but not really needed- but could always help.

VAFC = fuel and VTEC only
Standalone = a whole **** load of other stuff (fuel, timing, VTEC, idle speed, etc...)

in the end, if you are doing a lite tune, then VAFC may be good enough...but heavy modifications will need something more robust

with your mods the AFC should suffice but ign timing is unaddressed. Depends what u got planned for your car in the future. If big power upgrades then go Hondata. Just seems alot of $$$ to spend on standalone if u only got the current mods as you would not be making full use of its potential now

VAFC and Hondata are both great products, but they are also diffrent. I mean, VAFC is "just" a piggyback, as for Hondata, its the "whole package". I believe many choose to use them both. Hondata for basemaps, and VAFC for easy adjustment.

You can adjust the timing maps with Hondata-add a couple of degrees here, take away a couple of degrees there. You can optimize it for power.

Default Re: (b19coupe)

lets add this up:
Hondata:
p28: 200
harness: 120
Hondata (s200): 295

options:
boost cap.: $200
datalogging (for the DIYers): $200
ROM editor (actual software required for the DIYers): $250
Programmer (required for the DIYers): $180

Base Total (naturally asp.): $615 + options if you wanna program it yourself or if you are running boost

ON THE OTHER HAND:

Apex-i VAFC2 - (on sale at http://www.inlinefour.com) $320 AND THATS IT

I think (go ahead and call me cheap) but the VAFC is almost half the price of hondata...not to mention saving your money up for a good 1-2 hrs on the dyno (thats a good $200 in itself).

my .02: im going with the VAFC-2, i really only just wanna lean it out, drop VTEC to 5,300 rpms, and get some gains, but thats just me.
