Default OT: Mustang dyno #'s vs. Dynojet #'s help needed

Purely hypothetical

Suppose one car with a few mods puts down 189whp on a Mustang dyno.

Suppose another car, of the same type, with roughly the same mods (one unproven/unsubstantiated mod in addition to what the other car had) puts down 223whp on a Dynojet dyno.

Is there a rough "correction factor" between the two dynos? If anyone has run on both a Mustang and a Dynojet with roughly the same mods, I'd be curious to see your numbers (P1 folk?).

Zack Wylde owns all!

Edit: Oh yeah, on topic, I've heard anywhere from 9-15%.

Hrm. That leaves 11-12whp between Mustang digits and my Dynojet run.

Guess there's something to the "unproven" mod after all...

Need to head down to my local Mustang dyno for a baseline run

No, there is no direct factor between the two. We own a Md Chassis Dyno and have seen numbers all across the board from all other makes of Dyno. It comes down to the person operating the dyno and the factors they enter for corrections.

The Dyno is a tool like a micrommeter, dial bore gauge ECT ECT. it is only as good as the person operating it.

A good dyno operator can prove or disprove dyno numbers by simply taking, fuel pressure, injector size, pulse width and number of injectors and calculate the maximum horsepower a given vehicle will make. Many dynos out there show numbers that are impossible to achieve with the given injector size.

Good points, Matt j00 deserve a Bo Ice

I was just curious to see if anyone had a back-to-back plot on the different dynos with the same setup. Seems that dyno plots for Volvo turbos are few and far between, and I just wanted to see how I stacked up against a wrong-coaster with basically the same mods as me

I have back to backed my ITR, Mustang against a DynoJet within 1 whp.

We have done the same with a turbo car again with-in 10whp

Then theres the article in a Fast 5.0L ford magazine. Mustang vs. Dynojet The car put down something like 80 more rwhp on the Dyno jet. But the car owner who was a NMRA drag racer said " if he actually had that extra hp he would be running faster in the 1/4 mile than he was."

Again it all depends on the operator.

Last thing, the closer the vehicle weighs to the weight of the drum/rollers the closer the numbers will be when comparing dynos.

The mass of the vechile plays a great part in the "conversion" factor you search for Pat.

So a light car will have a different "conversion factor" than a Pig?

Here's some comparative numbers I made a while back.

On a mustang dyno I made 173whp.
On a dynojet dyno I made 198whp.
