will a b21 90-91 si motor bolt up in a 88si with the 88 clutch and tranny?
I have a 88 si with a bad motor (rod through block) and I found a cheep b21. The b21 is out of a automatic car and I would like to use my b20 clutch and tranny. So will a b21 bolt up to a b20 tranny and drop in to a 88si? Any info will help. I tried a search and did not find anything.
Thank you, Jeremy lally

yes, you can bolt the 88-89 tranny, to the b21.
you are going to need to use your stock clutch and flywheel, or if you are getting a new one make sure you purchase one for a 88-89 prelude.
just a heads up incase you didnt know, the B21 has oil problems and is probably why you got the motor cheap.
how cheap did you get it, because for about 600-700 you can get a JDM B20A long block which would be in better condition than the B21 and will most likely last longer. or you could get another B20A5.

only prob is the b21 doesnt rev as high, so it is supposed to have a shorter geared tranny. try to find a b21 tranny to go w/it. you must match flywheel and clutch to the tranny
Thanks for your help.
cheep= $75
This is just to get me back and forth to work but thanks for the heads up on the jdm stuff.
The reason I want to use the b20 tranny is because I bought it with low miles and put a act clutch in it, then the motor went south.
Thanks again for your help.
