How hard to install an intake on a rsx type S
Ok just got my rsx type s yesterday and I want to slap an intake on it. I have a warranty until 100K miles bumper to bumper and dont want to do anything that will void that. Is taking the intake/resonator of the the type s hard. also is it hard to reinstall the stock intake/resonator once they have been taken out b/c every time I take it in I want to slap the stock one back on. also do they acura ecu's record data that could tell if an intake was put on this car. I dont want the dealer to dick me over on my 100K warranty.
depends on which kind of intake you get. SRI is very easy, take around 30mins ~ 1hr. CAI need more time for installation cause you need to take the bumper off; relocate washer bottle; cut / trim fender.
hope this help.
hope this help.
Installing the AEM CAI on mine took 4 people(1 a mechanic) about 2.5hrs to do. Most of it was just running the wires and moving the washer reservior.
i installed mine myself and i had NO experience doing engine work and it took about 4 hours. Check out clubrsx.com and go to their project car and they have picture by picture instructions. And man, the intake brings the car to life
I installed my Injen CAI on my Type S. I had never done any work on cars before, so I went up to my friends shop, just so if I messed anything up he could correct it. Its not hard at all, just time consuming, took me around 3 hours. Worth the satisfaction though.
I took an SRI off one car and put it on a stock car and then changed the original car with the SRI to a CAI. Pretty much by myself in about 2hours. The hardest part to the CAI is puttin the bumper back on prolly took an hour in of itself. But other than that its all pretty much cake. Just don't screw around. You'd be suprised when you work by yourself you get more done quicker.
